The Monitoring Committee of the Master Plan for the recovery of Lorca requested an extension until the end of 2017 (04/05/2016)

The Monitoring Committee Director Recovery Plan Lorca Cultural Heritage held a new meeting at the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain, in Madrid, in order to review the implementation of the planned actions.

During the meeting, it was agreed to request an extension until the end of 2017, in order to finish all works and justify subsidies within.

Currently, since there have been more than 80 percent (95 percent in the case of BIC) of the actions envisaged in the Master Plan for the Recovery of Cultural Heritage of Lorca launched by the Government of the Region of Murcia the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and the city of Lorca.

In this union of the different administrations after the earthquakes we must add the work to the over the years by the Bishopric.

The general director of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, who attended the meeting on behalf of the Community, recalled that "five years after the earthquake of May 11, 2011, the recovery work of the cultural heritage of Lorca, both religious and civil, they are about to be concluded and may already be the result of a master plan is considered by experts an example of good practice for its speed and effectiveness and has been possible thanks to the union and coordination of all authorities and, of course, the cooperation of the citizens ".

In the meeting it maintained the development of the work of consolidation and restoration of cultural property and the granting of subsidies to privately owned properties listed was analyzed.

The level of funding Master Plan was also evaluated by 95 percent.

The investment amounts to almost 60 million euros and in total the Community has committed so far over 23 million euros.

Maria Comas added that "the recovery of Lorca remains a priority for the regional government, which is working hard from the first day to return to the city all its splendor and all citizens of the region can again enjoy the lorquino beauty and rich heritage. "

The members of the Monitoring Committee congratulated the Bishopric of Cartagena and the architect Juan de Dios de la Hoz, architect director of Lavila Arquitectos SLP, by granting Europa Nostra 2016 restoration projects of six churches Prize in Lorca, performances all them included in the Master Plan for Recovery of Cultural Heritage of the city.

They expressed once again its solidarity with the people Lorca, who yesterday suffered another earthquake of magnitude 3.7 on the Richter scale.

Similarly, it was reported on the process of modification and updating of the Special Protection Plan and Interior Lorca Reform, as well as the planned final activities, among which is a monographic publication, an exhibition that will show what has been done and a conference techniques.
