El Huerto Ruano hosts next Tuesday a day of Healthy Living with lectures and workshops on the occasion of National Nutrition Day (20/05/2016)

This activity aims to raise public awareness of the importance of a healthy diet, physical exercise, be little time sitting but enough rest, increased social activity and not smoking, contributing to greater hope and quality lifetime

The Councillor for Health of the City of Lorca, Maria del Carmen Ruiz Jodar, next to the Dean of the Faculty of Sociosanitary Campus Lorca, David Iyu Espinosa, and the Associate Dean of Degree of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Carmen Frontela Saseta, presented this morning the day of Healthy Life and Nutrition that will be done in the Garden Ruano next Tuesday May 24 on the occasion of National Nutrition Day.

The Councillor for Health has indicated that during the seminar, organized by the Faculty of Sociosanitary of Lorca and opened by the Rector of the University of Murcia, Jose Orihuela Calatayud, several food-related presentations will be given, and healthy living.

The first of these will be borne by Carmen Martinez Graciá, who will present the NELA Project carried out at the University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca, which aims to investigate the impact of nutrition during pregnancy and early childhood health of children in the region.

Maria del Carmen Ruiz explained that the second of the talks will examine the psychological relations in a healthy and active life balance, and will be given by Juan Gonzalez Hernandez, professor at the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Murcia.

The next presentation will be entitled "The NAOS Strategy as a key tool to acquire healthy eating habits. The experience gained in 10 years of strategy" and will be hosted by Marian Dal Re Saavedra.

The last of the conference, developed by Dolores Corella Piquer, Professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Valencia, will discuss the multicenter "Study PREDIMED (Prevention with Mediterranean Diet)" trial in Spain that resulted, among people with high cardiovascular risk, a Mediterranean diet supplemented with extra-virgin olive oil or nuts reduces the incidence of serious cardiovascular events.

"Physico-diet Exercise: Importance of Hydration", "Promotion of the Mediterranean diet" and "Surveys Kidmed" consisting of performing a test of 15 questions related to the Diet Similarly, various workshops such as taught Mediterranean.

It will also carry out a water tasting offered by Maria Amparo López Fernández, researcher belonging to the Area of ​​Nutrition and Food Science at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Carmen Frontela Saseta, Associate Dean of Degree of Human Nutrition and Dietetics;

Berruezo Gaspar Ros, Professor of the Department of Nutrition and Food Science;

as well as Teresa Robledo God, Executive Director AECOSAN under the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality.

The Councillor for Health has stressed that this activity is intended to raise public awareness of the importance of eating at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day;

incorporated into the food 2 or 3 times a week pulses;

drink plenty of water, between 1.5 to 2 liters per day;

taking fish 3 times a week;

diet incorporating nuts;

replace the whole milk or semi-skimmed by desnatados;

make at least 3 main meals daily and 1 or 2 small healthy snacks between meals;

an active daily life and devote at least 30 minutes of daily physical activity.

Ruiz Jodar said numerous studies have shown that a healthy lifestyle is associated with greater longevity, so it is very important that lifelong good eating habits that help aging well are available.

To do this, a healthy diet, physical exercise, be seated but soon enough rest, increased social activity and not smoking contributes to greater hope and quality of life.

The mayor of Health stressed that this day will involve Campus Mare Nostrum (CMN), and with the collaboration of various institutions and companies such as the city of Murcia, the Department of Health of the City of Lorca, El Pozo Alimentacion SA , Alimer and San Diego Eroski Mall.
