The Touch of Councils and the Hymn of minstrels announce the Corpus Christi procession (27/05/2016)

This act longhaul held since the late eighteenth century at 12 noon, including the participation of representatives of the City Council and the Church

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar has chaired from the balcony of City Hall the traditional civil-religious act by which since the late eighteenth century, on the eve of Corpus Christi, at noon the Touch of Councils and the Hymn of minstrels is interpreted from Chapter Houses of the Collegiate Church of San Patricio and balconies City Hall, an act with which the procession will take place this Sunday May 28 from 20:00 pm, departing convenes in church of San Mateo, which previously held a Mass at 19:00.

The event has started at 12 am with the touch of minstrels and then the clarineros have responded with their music, repeating the ceremony three times.

The music played contemplates the Touch of Councils of clarineros Council and the March of Ministriles, dating from the last third of the eighteenth century.

These pieces make up the official anthem of the City of Lorca since February 23, 1994 was approved by the City Municipal Council of Lorca.

Remember that already existed minstrels musicians in Lorca at the service of the Council since the sixteenth century, which had as its main function to attend on behalf of the City to religious ceremonies or other public events, playing their music to receive and dismiss Corporation .

The instruments that were part of the minstrels was three oboes and sacabuche.

The Council also had to clarineros, salaried musicians who were part of courtship representative of the city when it came to ceremonial as the Corpus, Easter, Virgen del Rosario Virgen del Alcázar, Virgen de las Huertas, etc.With occasion of the Feast Corpus, in the city of Lorca have traditionally held various events, among which that develops with clarineros occupying the central balcony of city Hall and the minstrels, opposite, on the balconies of the Chapter Houses of San Patricio.
