Irrigators of Lorca Highlands initiate mobilizations (30/05/2016)

90% of the population of this area depend directly or indirectly from the primary sector.

The president of the Community of Irrigators 'Campo Alto', Juan Garcia Corbalan, today announced that the districts north of Lorca will be mobilized to demand solutions to the serious problems affecting them and are endangering "the survival of our peoples ".

This has been announced at a rally this morning at the door of the City of Lorca.

Specifically, on Sunday June 5th, at 19 am, it will be held a demonstration in the section of the road C-415 that crosses the village of La Paca.

Corbalan Juan Garcia explained that 90% of the population living in the Highlands of Lorca called directly or indirectly dependent on the primary sector.

In this regard, the president of the villagers recalled that the Government of Spain subsidized with 6.1 million euros the construction of the distribution network of 23 hm3 water than traditional and consolidated lorquino irrigated field received from this infrastructure each year.
