Stop stallions CIFE Lorca inseminate allow this year to about 200 mares (14/06/2016)

The Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cacho, attended today's stop stallions Artificial Insemination Centre Equine, located in the facilities of the Integrated Agricultural Training and Experience (CIFE) of Lorca Center, which inseminating this year to about 200 mares for breeding race.

Martinez-Cacho said: "The CIFE Lorca is a reference center in the technology applied and the experience gained in equine reproduction, providing services to other border areas in the extraction and shipment of semen. Its facilities include stop stallions, equine insemination whose base is the most important in Spain ".

The stop is available throughout the year, although Stallions Army (Military Stud Farm Ecija) are available to the sector this year from 28 March to 16 June.

Among the horses is 'Gento', a stallion veteran with more than 200 descendants.

Besides the quality of stallions, it highlights the efficiency of professionals CIFEA: according to their data, more than 80 percent of the ride just successfully fertilized with the mare.

Murcia is also a reference in animal health, with the creation of health protection groups that monitor and analyze the conditions in which they are horses, "which is a guarantee, for example, acts in which hundreds of animals from all over Spain are concentrated, "said the minister.

In addition, all equine farms must be registered compulsorily, while having only a horse.

In the center the covering of mares to farmers who request it, with reproductive techniques natural mating and artificial insemination, between the months of March to June is facilitated.

But also it highlights its formative aspect, which has allowed agricultural training to 137 students enrolled in the course 2014-2015 in the field of agricultural production and higher technical assistance in livestock and animal health.

The equestrian sector in the Region of Murcia represents a wide potential as a complement to the performance of regional agricultural system and the promotion of rural areas.

The sector is represented in the region by more than 2,500 equine farms, 1,200 professionals and more than 11,500 horses, of which half are Purebred Spanish.
