The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, and Councilwoman oenegés Consistory Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, received in the afternoon yesterday to 10 Saharawi children who have reached the city thanks to the program foster care of children Sahrawis "Holidays in Peace" , organized by the Association of Friends of the Saharawi People in collaboration with the city of Lorca.

"

Lorca Mayor said that "the Saharawi child population, refugees in the Tindouf camps, suffers a chronic nutritional deficiency accompanied in many cases of levels of severe anemia. The high summer temperatures that accentuate this inadequate food, also impede development social and recreational of these menores.Por this, families participating in this program enable a stable, emotional and stimulating environment for minors, providing everything you need to make your stay as best as possible with respect to their habits and culture. in addition, undertake to provide the less active social inclusion in the life of the community. "

Jodar has stressed that children participating in the program "Holidays in Peace" will have a comprehensive medical examination, including vaccination, dental, eye and hearing screening, the chance to avoid more than 50 degrees Celsius in the camps during the summer months , a balanced diet during the summer, help the children to face the winter with more health, a welcoming environment and receptive to different cultures, the opportunity to live in other luckier environments that they know children Sahrawis the opportunity to learn and improve Spanish, first foreign language in the curriculum of schools Sahrawis, and may conduct awareness activities on the problems of the Saharawi people ".

It should be noted, finally, that the main objectives of this action are to raise awareness of the problems of the Saharawi refugees, and participate in the organization and monitoring of foster care program under Saharawis during the summer holidays.
