The Ministry of Development is launching a program in Lorca employment with twenty projects of local interest (11/07/2016)

The 'Lorca + Employment Plan 2016/2017' involves implementation of twenty projects of local interest for those young graduates and unemployed people between 30 and 58 years of the municipality will be hired.

The Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism Development and Employment, through the Regional Employment Service and Training (SEF), intended to this line of action 500,000 euros, financed by the European Social Fund, a sum which is completed with other 50,764 euros from the Town hall.

The director general of SEF, Alejandro Zamora, filed today with the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, the actions to be carried out within the framework of this program, which gives continuity to others that the Community launched after the earthquakes.

Zamora said that "these projects will contribute to the process of economic revival of the city and will provide unemployed people in the municipality an opportunity to enter the labor market and improve their employability".

He also noted that the municipality of Lorca "is registering a positive trend in reducing unemployment, if necessary to continue working well to provide the most appropriate conditions to continue creating jobs".

In June, the number of people registered at employment offices fell 3.31 percent and compared to the same month last year, unemployment among job seekers decreased by 6.59 percent, representing a decrease of 423 people in the last year.

The plan presented today has two modes.

One is the program 'Improving employability', through which the City will hire 28 youth in the municipality in a situation of active job search, the selection will be made through the presentation to the SEF supply activity.

The contracts, which will be offered in the form of practice, have a maximum duration of six months, working part time.

The goal, explained Alejandro Zamora, "is that, through these practices, to acquire or increase their professional experience after completing the period of formal training."

Young people who can benefit from this type should be graduates or college graduates, engineers, architects, university graduates, technical engineers or technical architects, senior technicians in vocational training or have professional certificate.

Another is the program 'Promoting employment', which provides for the hiring of 28 unemployed people over 30 to 58 years.

The selection can also be made through the SEF and the contracts signed in this mode have a minimum duration of six months, working part time.

Services and works of general interest

Contracted people carry out works and services of general and social interest related to the earthquake.

Specifically, be involved in the technical supervision of infrastructure in the affected neighborhoods within the local service development, work files processed in the service of Urbanism and pay social care for affected families.

In addition, they conduct repairs and minor works agencies and local spaces, such as parks, gardens and green areas or social centers, as well as measures to improve basic infrastructure in different streets of the town.

Also, architectural barriers will be removed in the area of ​​the historical and lighting work and replacement of street furniture and signage will be made.

Employment and training programs

In Lorca, the SEF also subsidizes 718,000 euros mixed employment and training program, which this year 55 student-workers will benefit;

allocates 225,000 euros to hire 21 unemployed workers engaged in the local public employment program;

and subsidizes the City with more than 278,000 euros conducting various training activities for long-term unemployed over 45 and unemployed workers in groups at risk of social exclusion, which will have this year with 150 students.

Special Employment Centres

Also, Alejandro Zamora visited the special employment centers 'management and control Lorca' and 'security management and control', in the industrial estate Saprelorca, in which more than 100 people working with disabilities, whose wage costs are subsidized by the Community.

These centers provide access control and porter and maintenance of buildings, facilities and public and private roads and cleaning services, maintenance and care of gardens, commercial and industrial premises;

among other activities.

The special employment centers of the municipality of Lorca employ 181 people, of which 164 have some kind of disability.

The Community has allocated 904,440 to these centers between 2015 and 2016.
