The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, along with an official delegation of the City Council composed of representatives of all local groups have participated in recent days in the commemorative events developed in the French town of Adissan, located in the region of Languedoc-Roussillon , which they have served as a framework for the official twinning between Lorca and the town.
Jodar has indicated that Adissan more than half of its residents are Lorca or descendants of Lorca who settled in the town in the 1920s, and that this twinning involves reunion between the two locations, which share the same traits and past common.
Notably Adissan has a population of just over 1,000 inhabitants.
Its main economic activity is the wine production and craftsmanship in ceramics, forging and weaving, tasks shared with our town, many of them brought there by Spanish emigrants in the twentieth century.
This is the sixth twinning of the city of Lorca, after those carried out with Vera and Molins de Rey, national and Wilaya of Aaiiun, Saint-Fons and Mauguio, internationally.
