The Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure has received a total of 26 bids from companies for the execution of the construction of the second tranche of the South Central Round in Lorca, which will connect the banks of the Guadalentín river by building a new bridge to improve the connection between the district of San Diego with the Rambla de Tiata.

Secretary General of the Ministry, Yolanda Muñoz, stressed that the open procedure and competition is used against the auction, "a method by which will be valued at 50 percent of the technical offer and the other 50 percent economic offer" project, which has a base price of 5,625,491 euros tender under the Community loan with the European Investment Bank (EIB), and an execution period of 12 months budget.

In the coming weeks the projects presented and their technical characteristics are measured through constructive memory, reflecting the focus of the work and its territorial and temporal planning, execution time, the plan of quality assurance, environmental measures and security, among others.

Next step will be the opening of financial tenders and a proposal for award of the work to the company that has obtained the highest overall score in technical and economic assessment will be performed.

Characteristics of the work

The second section of this road, which will provide an alternative route to the axis that forms the Avenida Juan Carlos I and Avenida Europa, consist of the construction of a road dual carriageway with one lane in each direction, which will continue the first tranche of Central Ronda from the roundabout in front of the Felipe VI sports complex in San Diego, with Santa Clara avenue, passing over the river Guadalentín.

Among the features of the infrastructure include the construction of a new bridge between both sides of the Guadalentín with a length of 116 meters, which are fitted with three spans of lights, and a road of 7 meters, bike lanes 1.5 meters and sidewalks 1.5 meters.

Another outstanding work is the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection between the Way of Cartagena and the speed bump pass the river, which will improve traffic regulation and increase road safety.

The performance, which runs along 422 meters, also includes the replacement of the affected services, gardening, trees and lighting the entire stretch of action.

Continuity of the first section

This work is a continuation of the first route, which will run from the old N-340a at the entrance of Lorca in the east of the city, in the neighborhood of Apollonia, until it joins the neighborhood of San Diego.

Its urban character, with a length of 1.5 kilometers, consists of a dual carriageway road with two lanes of 3.5 meters wide each, separated by a median.

Their duration is 18 months.

In this section five roundabouts will be built.

The first will be elliptical in shape and is positioned at the intersection with the N-340a road, while the other roundabouts are circular in shape and distributed throughout the rest of the layout.
