Citizens presented at the September plenary a motion against bullying in schools, and a question about the existing asbestos in buildings demolitions (21/09/2016)

Antonio Meca presented at the regular full on Monday September 26 a motion for the development and implementation of a protocol against bullying, and a question about the control in the treatment of asbestos.

D. Antonio Meca García, Councillor of the Municipal Group Spokesman Citizens in the city of Lorca informs us that the motion refers to the development and implementation of a protocol against bullying, as it believes that existing measures at regional and local level are not sufficient.

The mayor explains "we rely on the fact that the region of Murcia holds the dishonorable distinction of being the region with more bullying in Spain, cyberbullying included doubling the national average. And Spain is the fourth European country in cases bullying".

A report by Save the Children in January this year sheds alarming figures: 11% of children acknowledges having been the victim of bullying, 3 points above the national average, 3% said they frequently suffer in a strip age complex because it is located at the entrance of adolescence, by suffering more girls than boys.

Currently our city has the tutor Police, but their functions are off campus: access control and attendance.

Antonio Meca explains "We believe therefore that the local administration and through the Municipal School Board, should be more involved with the school community to implement the necessary measures to train, inform, prevent and attend to fight in eradicating harassment in schools educational ".

Moreover, the Municipal Group Citizens raise a question in the same session the government team on what action protocol has been carried out to control asbestos waste in demolition, removal and treatment of this material as contaminant and dangerous for health.

Councilman explains "in its various forms or trademarks (Uralita, asbestos cement) has been a very common material in construction, especially in buildings prior to 2003, date on which the effective prohibition of use (BOE No. occurs. 229 Friday December 14, 2001), by cause lung cancer and other lung diseases. "

Asbestos must be removed by a specialist company and who is entered in the RERA (Registry of Companies with asbestos risk).

This registration is mandatory and necessary by law.

Following the earthquakes of 2011, hundreds of buildings and thousands of buildings have been demolished.

They were by their age structures built with asbestos, which should be treated by specialized companies.
