The Civil Guard dismantled an illegal poultry slaughterhouse (27/09/2016)

Poultry farming, licensed exclusively to raising turkeys, chickens and eggs sold retail without health registration and poor sanitary conditions

The Civil Guard in the region of Murcia, in collaboration with the Food Safety Directorate General of Public Health of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, has dismantled at a poultry farm in the lorquina deputation of La Tercia, a clandestine poultry slaughterhouse.

The establishment responsible for selling, retail, chickens and eggs in poor sanitary conditions.

The performance has resulted in the detention of many chicken carcasses, 5,000 chicken eggs and 300 live chickens.

The head of the operation will have been dealt with numerous complaints for administrative infringements of national and European animal health.

The investigation began when the Civil Guard was alerted to the alleged irregular practices carried on a poultry farm, located in the lorquina deputation of La Tercia.

A poultry farm under suspicion

Agents ROCK equipment (Theft in the field) of the Civil Guard began monitoring the establishment and verified the sporadic arrival of individuals to the farm that although it had the necessary permits for raising turkeys, made suspect to investigators alleged direct selling birds to individuals.

The information obtained was brought to the attention of specialists in nature protection Corps (SEPRONA) who took up the monitoring operation to determine whether the work activity developed matched the administrative licenses granted to the head of the farm for breeding, exclusively turkeys.

Numerous monitoring devices allowed to determine that the arrival of individuals to the farm was increasing, mainly during weekends and that these alleged customers were buying chickens and eggs on the farm, under the name of 'chickens and range eggs'.

Recently, once identified the alleged irregular practices responsible for the establishment, agents and inspectors Meritorious Service Food Safety and Zoonoses, have inspected the farm.

Sales of products for human consumption without sanitary control

Examination of the various precincts of the farm has allowed to locate a living clandestinely sacrifice (slaughter), enabled with machinery and specific tools, which supposedly sacrificed chickens and fished for direct sales to consumers.

In another enclosure they have been found 5,000 chicken eggs arranged in cartons and cases, in poor sanitary conditions.

The farm had about 150 turkeys, only authorized species for breeding on the farm as well as another 300 chickens, divided into several corrals and raised, supposedly for slaughter and sale.

The owner of the farm has been unable to prove the possession of the corresponding administrative for the sale of these products which also lacked sanitary registration authorization.

The inspection has resulted in the detention of numerous channels of slaughtered chickens, 5,000 chicken eggs and 300 live animals, all of which remains deposited at the poultry farm, available to the Food Security in the Region.

The machinery used to slaughter animals has been sealed.

The head of the poultry farm is has handled numerous complaints for administrative infringements of national and European animal health.
