The Consistory has already requested different reports to apply a specific treatment for these stone elements, given the particular nature of this material and its special conservation needs.

The Councilor for Culture in the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, has reported that the Municipal Consistory is working to obtain the necessary funding to carry out the restoration work on the facade of the Guevara Palace, one of the most outstanding examples of baroque Civil society of Spain.

Llamas Gómez has stated that we consider that it is necessary to apply a specific treatment to conserve the stone that serves as the basis for the ornamentation of this facade.

It is a special stone whose integrity is affected by the emissions of road traffic that supports the street in which it is located.

We are talking about a treatment of similar characteristics to the executed on the facade of the church of Carmen, which has offered an effective solution as all citizens can contemplate.

The Mayor of Culture has recalled that the Local Administration has been recovering gradually the Palace of Guevara for several years.

In fact in 2009 was released to the property of the damages that a swamp of fecal waters of 2 meters of depth was provoking to its foundations (fact denounced in its moment and caused by the irresponsibility of previous municipal governments).

After the earthquakes of 2011, the City Council obtained the necessary financing, first of all, to carry out the works that prevented it from literally collapsing.

Then this City Council obtained funding from the Cultural Ministry of the Ministry of Development to proceed with its comprehensive restoration, which has managed to recover for Lorca an authentic heritage jewel.

The musealization project has already been completed and the laborious task of recovering and repairing the Palace's furniture is well advanced.

Now we are advancing in our goal of restoring the ornamental elements of its façade, a task for which even solutions are being discussed and concrete budgeting that would be necessary.
