The lack of health provision leaves Lorca without vaccines in the first week of the campaign against the flu (16/11/2016)

The vaccination campaign in Lorca has started "late and bad".

For days, thousands of users are meeting in their medical centers with the "no vaccines" sign, in a vaccination campaign that this year has started later than usual.

For all this, the PSOE requires the Health Authority to immediately endow Lorca with the number of vaccines necessary to ensure that the vaccination campaign does not stop again

The Vice-spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Marisol Sánchez has denounced this morning the serious and irresponsible lack of foresight of the Ministry of Health by not providing Lorca with the necessary number of doses with which to cover all the population at risk, within Of the annual influenza vaccination campaign.

This lack of necessary doses affects the thousands of people within the campaigns of both vaccines against influenza as well as vaccination against pneumococcus.

Sánchez Jódar has reproached Sanidad for the delay, compared to previous years, at the beginning of this vaccination campaign.

As it has been recalled, unlike other years in which the beginning month of this campaign was October, the one of 2016 has begun later, because it has not been until November 7 when Health has started this campaign in The Region of Murcia.

As far as the municipality of Lorca is concerned, the different medical centers have exhausted all their stocks in the first days of the campaign.

This exhaustion, according to Sánchez Jódar, "is not due to a massive or disproportionate attendance of the users to their respective centers, since the vaccination is governed under the normal rates of citation in the medical centers."

In fact, due to this lack of stock, this vaccination campaign remains paralyzed waiting for Sanidad to replenish the necessary doses in the medical centers of the municipality.

The same situation presents medical centers of the neighboring municipality of Eagles, without stock for a week.

For all this, Sánchez Jódar has demanded that the Ministry of Health immediately donate medical centers in Lorca and other municipalities in area III with the number of doses for vaccination against influenza and pneumococcus, sufficient to cover all The campaign to the entire population at risk.

This is a situation that affects thousands of people in the municipality: over 65, pregnant women, under 65 years old with a high risk of complications from influenza, among other groups where vaccination is recommended, follow the Expects that it will be donated with the necessary stocks to guarantee this much needed coverage.

In the specific case of the group of people over 65, Sánchez Jódar denounces the major inconveniences that this lack of stocks is generating in this group.

The problems for the mobility that in many cases present these people, and the dependence of this group to the help of their caregivers and relatives to be able to move to their medical centers makes this situation especially unbearable among these people.

Sánchez Jódar has demanded that the Regional Administration also clarify whether this situation occurs only in area III and whether, therefore, a new comparative grievance with respect to other areas is due or whether it is due to manifest incompetence When planning the number of doses necessary to cover the population of these municipalities.

In this sense, the Socialist Vice-Speaker has raised the question of whether the Ministry of Health "may be unable" to forecast, from one year to another, the amount of stocks needed for Lorca and the other municipalities in area III.

"Is it so difficult to plan, based on the experience of each year, the necessary resources to ensure that this campaign does not have to be interrupted?" He concludes.
