Francisco Jódar has emphasized that we will have a Juan Carlos I Avenue and a center at the height of what we Lorca deserve, with better services, facilities for the pedestrian and a modern and friendly image.

The First Edil has stated that this is an emblematic and exciting project for all Lorca.

We face a challenge that responds to citizen demand.

Lorca demanded the transformation of this Avenue through a modernizing investment, ambitious and courageous.

We know that it will generate incidences for a few months, but we also know that the result will always be enjoyed, so we thank in advance the Lorca compression.

The Mayor has stressed that the parameter guiding the project is to recover the pedestrian as the protagonist of life in the urban center, reducing the pressure of traffic.

We want the main artery of the city to be a large shopping area, where you can walk with ease and that is a stirring within the creation of the New Lorca that is emerging after the earthquakes.

We are talking about an integrative project that includes all the citizens' proposals that Lorca's own made in the broad participation process carried out before the works were drawn up.

At the same time, and although informal contacts have already been maintained with these groups, between today and tomorrow we will complete a new round of working sessions with businessmen, traders, citizens, cultural associations and Holy Week Passages.

This action includes improvement of pavement, sanitation network, sewage system and other services, as well as the creation of a nonexistent network for collecting and channeling rainwater, as well as providing for the elimination of steps for access to shops and buildings, and Installation of 516 shrubs and 216 new trees, which on the Avenue will be in large portable planters.

Francisco Jódar has recalled that during the last years since the Municipal Government Team we have transformed essential streets of the urban layout of Lorca, such as the Alberca-Santo Domingo-Lope Gisbert-Príncipe Alfonso, Álamo Street, Emilio García, Cuesta Presbyter Of San Francisco and Nogalte, Pérez Casas, Alfonso X or Musso Valiente.

Rivera explained that this action, which has an investment of 4.9 million euros, ratifies the firm commitment of the Government of the Autonomous Community with the progress of Lorca and its recovery after the earthquakes of 2011. The common objective of the extensive Battery of investments that we are running throughout the municipality is that Lorca, after what they have had to suffer, now have a better city than before the earthquakes.

The Minister of Development has detailed that within the process of participation that is being completed for these works, today we begin a round of contacts with CECLOR and the Chamber of Commerce, which will continue tomorrow with cofradías, Federation San Clemente, association of people with Disability, Youth Council, Federation of Women's Organizations, among other groups.

In addition, this Wednesday at 20:30 in the Cultural Center will have a meeting open to all traders and Lorca in general who want to come to give their opinion on the selected project.

Wider sidewalks, higher quality pavement and lighting for all parades.

The project strengthens the Juan Carlos I Avenue as the backbone of the city's economic activity.

To this end, the sidewalks are expanded substantially, in which urban furniture and underground containers will be integrated, as well as public lighting, which will maintain its location so as not to affect the view of the Holy Week boxes, Of energy efficiency will include the extraordinary lighting for the parades that are made in this way.

The pavement of the sidewalk will be of great quality, with granite of 6 cm of thickness, appropriate for an accessible pedestrian itinerary.

Different shades of granite will be used to differentiate areas on the sidewalk.

Observe an obstacle free strip of 2.50 meters parallel to the facade.

For the paving of the roadway, taking into account that it is an area located in the urban area, will be used sound-absorbing agglomerate, which has already been successfully tested in several Spanish cities and is capable of greatly reducing noise traffic.

This action includes the improvement of the Square of the Oval and the improvement of the traffic in the intersection with Santa Clara Avenue by means of the location of a round.

The streets Serrallo, Poet Carlos Mellado, Floridablanca, José Espinosa Pomares, Plazas de Colón and Carruajes, Alamedas de la Constitución, Menchirón, Ramón y Cajal and their crossing, will also be reshaped, Barnés.

The Alameda de la Constitución will renovate its pavement for another one of granite, will eliminate the architectural barriers and will increase its vegetation.

The Plaza de Colón will see how its architectural barriers are suppressed, its access is improved, vegetation is increased, a children's play area is incorporated and the monument to earthquake victims is enhanced.

In Carruajes square, the vials and parking areas are ordered and the accessibility is considerably improved.

In the rest of the streets, in general, the pavement is renewed, it improves accessibility through a single platform and suppresses any architectural barrier, as well as the filling of containers, full integration of LED technology and replacement or improvement of vegetation existing.

All of them, of course, will have the corresponding urban furniture to turn into new spaces where the neighbors can live and enjoy.

Beginning of the works after Reyes.
