On November 14, Antonio Meca presented to the Environmental Attorney of the Region of Murcia, complaint for alleged non-compliance with the Law 2001 of December 14 on Asbestos.
The Councilman informs us: "we have no record of compliance with the regulations for the removal and treatment of asbestos elements in the demolition of buildings after the earthquakes of 2011"
Recall that in its various formulas or trade marks (Uralite, fiber cement) has been a very common material in construction, especially in buildings prior to 2003, when it effectively prohibits its use (BOE No. 229, Friday 14 December 2001).
And according to the World Health Organization, asbestos is a first-rate carcinogenic material, which needs to be removed by a specialized company and registered with the RERA (Register of Companies with Risk of Asbestos).
This registration is obligatory and essential by Law.
"We have verified that there are demolitions where we do not know that any specialized company intervened.
In fact the contaminating materials are part of the mixed rubble, in some cases next to schools, kindergartens, institutes and houses "explains the mayor.
On the other hand, this Municipal Group has evidence that in the remodeling works of the neighborhoods of Alfonso X and La Viña, no specialized company has intervened in the treatment of asbestos in the replacement of the pipes.
"The prosecution must investigate this matter and for this reason we have forwarded all the information that we have been collecting for the sake of the citizens' health"
