The Plenary of Lorca supports the proposal of the PSOE to rehabilitate the old field of maneuvers of Carraclaca as space of leisure and sport (04/02/2017)

Diego José Mateos thanks the rest of the political groups for the degree of consensus reached to move forward the proposal that the Socialist Group raised to Plenary, to condition the old maneuvering field of Carraclaca as a great natural space destined to leisure and to the enjoyment of the Lorca .

Also seen good to create a museum where to collect the military legacy of the Infantry Regiment Mallorca 13 in Lorca.

The PSOE Spokesman in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has shown his satisfaction after gathering the unanimous agreement of the rest of political forces with municipal representation to promote his proposal to rehabilitate the old field of maneuvers Carraclaca as a large natural space dedicated to the Leisure and sports, for Lorca's enjoyment.

In this way, the City of Lorca will initiate contacts with the Ministry of Defense to get the Government of Spain to transfer the land of Carraclaca, currently owned.

This would be the first step to achieve, in a future, that Lorca regain ownership of this location, so that the reconversion of this old firing range and its dependencies can be started in a large enclosure for sports and recreation.

Similarly, a socialist initiative and thanks to the support of all municipal groups, the City of Lorca will begin the search for possible locations in which to enable a military museum that the PSOE, echoing a historic proposal of the Association of Friends of the Infantry Mallorca 13, also requested in Plenary.

According to Mateos, this future museum, which he hopes "soon becomes a reality" would complement the cultural, patrimonial and tourist offer of the city, and in turn, would serve as a space to compile the "numerous stories" that the barracks of Sancho Dávila and the Historic regiment of Mallorca 13 left in our city during its settlement.

The objective is to gather, through the collaboration of the members of the aforementioned association, fixtures, objects, photographs and, finally, memories, with which Lorca can recall the vast military legacy of this regiment in the city.
