The Youth and Social Services Councils give to 17 schools of primary and secondary school of the municipality 325 books to help to the families in need (15/02/2017)

The Councilors of Youth and Social Services of the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas and Fatima Mínguez, respectively, have informed this morning of the granting of a series of aid in school supplies and books that have been delivered to schools in the municipality, both primary As a high school, as well as a college in Ghana.

In this sense, the Textbook Exchange Bank (BILT) has already completed processing all textbook aids for families with children between 6 and 16 years old, enrolled and enrolled in Primary or Secondary Education, For the 2016/2017 school year.

The grants have gone to families with limited economic resources who needed the support to tackle the purchase of textbooks with the beginning of the school year.

The requirements and conditions of the beneficiaries to the said aid have been the following: to be registered and to reside in the municipality of Lorca;

Present all the required and properly completed documentation (all this process has been done through the schools themselves who have forwarded the information to the Book Bank and this has been in charge of picking it from the parents who had requested it) and not have Perceived assistance from other agencies or entities for the same concept, with the simultaneous enjoyment of benefits that cover the same assumptions and needs, through public or private institutions.

In addition, it should be noted that the Departments of Youth, Social Services, Education and Technical Teachers of Community Service (PTSC) have evaluated the conditions of families who have been granted assistance books.

Specifically, the aid of books has consisted in obtaining the material itself.

In this regard, 165 textbooks have been purchased for the following secondary schools: IES Ros Giner, IES Ramón Arcas, IES San Juan Bosco, IES Prince of Asturias, IES Pérez Casas and IESO Sierra de Almenara.

In addition to another 160 textbooks for CEIP Primary Schools Ana Caicedo, CEIP Andrés García Soler, CEIP José Robles, CEIP Juan González, CEIP Nª Sra. Del Rosario, CEIP Sacred Heart, CEIP San Cristóbal, CEIP Pasico-Campillo, CEIP San José and CEIP la Torrecilla.

The books, which have been made available to students with needs, will be delivered at the end of the course to the Book Bank, which will be in charge of collecting them and creating a deposit with them in order to meet the needs of the following courses .

It should be noted that in this process of delivery and purchase of school material has participated, in conjunction with the Councils of Youth and Social Services Consistory, the Association of Physically Disabled Lorca and its Region (ASDIFILOR).

On the other hand, the Bank of Books has collaborated with these aids of this material thanks to the solidarity of many users that participating with the delivery of "1 €" solidarity that was requested in the Campaign of delivery and collection of books realized this summer in The University Campus of Lorca, where the BILT is carried out.

In addition, with the money collected by the donation of books of those people who did not want any benefit in return when they left their books in the Book Bank, it has been possible to buy a total of 108 backpacks with products of school material (notepads, pencils, Games of colors, rules, etc.), which will go to a primary school in Ghana, specifically the Edumadze Primary School in Mankessim.

This action was carried out at the request of the Association of Ghaneses de Lorca, which contacted the Department of Youth, and asked for help to try to resolve, as far as possible, the shortages in material that has this school.

This educational center in the Mankessim area is made up of 108 students aged between 5 and 15 years old. It is composed of six classes, which are taught in Mathematics, English, French, Culture, Science, Agriculture, Techniques , Vocational Skills and Skills as well as Fantse (Local Language).

It should be noted that Mankessim is a city in the central region of Ghana, West Africa, is located about 85 kilometers west of Accra, on the main road Sekondi-Takoradi.

In addition, it is the traditional headquarters of Fante, Community of Ghana.

The Edil de Servicios Sociales recalled that "during the academic year 2016-2017 almost 9,600 euros have been invested in the acquisition of textbooks in order to cover the needs of those students whose families are in a situation of vulnerability. Course 2017-2018 we have reserved a line of 11,500 euros for this purpose with the objective of meeting the needs of all families with needs.
