Agriculture starts irrigation modernization in the Alto de Lorca irrigation community (21/02/2017)

The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment today begins the construction of water infrastructures that will allow the start of the modernization of irrigation in the community of irrigators Alto de Lorca field, located in the hamlet of La Paca.

Specifically, it involves the creation of regulation ponds, a water pumping station and a pipeline.

The project includes the construction of a regulation pond with a useful capacity of 105,885 cubic meters, a pumping station powered by photovoltaic solar energy and a pipeline to connect the raft to the hydraulic network of the irrigation community.

The modernization of the community of irrigators will benefit a total of 284 comuneros and an irrigation area that harbors 435 hectares, dedicated mainly to the cultivation of olive, aromatic plants, almond and vine.

The budget for the works amounts to 647,350 euros, co-financed 63% with Feader funds.

The deadline is nine months.

These works are part of the irrigation modernization plan and improvement of irrigation infrastructures in the communities of irrigators and general communities of irrigators, contemplated in the Rural Development Program (PDR) 2014-2020.
