The Councilor of Oenegés in the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, has informed that the Cultural Center of the City will host this Friday from 19:00 a concert of the Children's Choir "Santa Cecilia" which has been organized for the benefit of Temporary reception of Belarusian children affected by the radiation caused by the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power station in Belarus.

La Edil de Oenegés explained that this is a commendable initiative whose main objective is to make visible the commendable effort made by this association every year and that makes it possible for dozens of children affected by that nuclear disaster to enjoy a vacation in our region, far away Of the radiation that still exists in the area.

We are talking about an entity that develops its work in Lorca for several years, and that has an extraordinary experience that has managed to establish lasting ties of friendship and collaboration between Lorca and the area of Belarus near Chernobyl.

Fátima Mínguez has pointed out that the fundamental objectives of this entity, which has its headquarters in the House of Oenegés, are to try to bring the largest number of children each summer to Spain to enjoy for 2 months the sun and the Mediterranean diet , Which implies an average decrease of 25% of radiation in the body.

It is also sought to find the largest number of host families to accommodate these children.

The Secretary of the Oenegé "Solidary Families with the Belarusian People", Rafael Andreu, recalled that the entity is in the middle of the reception campaign, and that 10 children are still missing to look for a family.

It is to be anticipated that the concert scheduled for this Friday will be broadcast a video that shows the members of this group carried out last year to the area affected by the nuclear explosion looking for children in need and with problems of radioactivity by Chernobyl.

The event on Friday has the collaboration of several companies in Lorca that have made different donations.

Therefore a lottery is included to proceed to deliver the contributions of these firms.

The entrance to the concert is free and free.

Ms. Silvente said that to give us an idea of the consequences of that disaster, it should be noted that the amount of radioactive material released was about 500 times greater than that of the atomic bomb dropped in Hiroshima in 1945, directly causing the deaths of 31 people and forced To the government of the Soviet Union to the evacuation of 116,000 people causing an international alarm when radioactivity is detected in at least 13 countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

After the accident, a massive process of decontamination, containment, parallel tasks and mitigation was carried out by approximately 600,000 people called liquidators.

The Solidarity Families Association with Belarus was formed with the aim of helping to alleviate the disastrous consequences of radioactivity on the Belarussian population and in particular on children, suffering the consequences of the nuclear accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the republic of Ukraine on 26 April 1986.

The Chernobyl nuclear disaster had serious ecological and socioeconomic consequences that have so far hindered the health of the Belarusian people.

The neighboring districts of Braguin, Khoynilki and Narobia in the Gomel Region limit the territory of the Chernobyl nuclear power station in Ukraine and present the highest radioactive contamination in Belarus.

Last year a total of 20 children from this area of Belarus had the opportunity to spend part of their summer vacation in our region, thanks to the collaboration of the Municipal Council which has an agreement over the last years with this entity for the Development of this type of activity.
