The City achieved in 2016 a total net saving of 5.12 million euros, the largest in its history (03/04/2017)

The Consistory also achieved the largest reduction in its historical series compared to the Negative Remnant of Treasury, down from 14.9 in 2015 to 8.6 at the end of last year, which represents an improvement of 6.3 million Euros.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, together with the Councilor for Economy and Finance in the Municipal Consistory, Fulgencio Gil, has reported the economic balance of the accounts of the City Council with respect to the exercise of last year.

The First Edil has indicated that the result has been "particularly positive", achieving a surplus of 3,644,828 euros.

The difference between recognized collection rights and payment obligations, which is recorded as net savings, also shows positive data, standing at just over 5.12 million.

We are talking about a gross saving of 12.28 million, which depreciates the amortizations derived from the loans and other operations that involve a block total of 7.17 million.

The First Edil has anticipated that the accounts of last year also bring good news regarding the great objective of the economic team of this Local Administration, as is the case of Negative Remnants of Treasury.

It should be remembered that the efforts of the Consistory are being directed over the last few years precisely to reduce this magnitude.

So in a single year the City Council has managed to reduce it by slightly more than 6.3 million euros, going from the 14.9 million it presented in 2015 to 8.6 last December.

This improvement will translate into a clear benefit for all citizens, since it will allow the City Council to release more money to increase the execution of future investments and have the opportunity to allocate more funds to increase and improve the services offered to Lorca .

The Mayor has also anticipated that these results, which already constitute a notable leap in quality regarding the status of the coffers of all Lorca, will be improved shortly when proceeding, as established by the Normative, to the incorporation in the general account of the corresponding result obtained by the municipal companies.

Francisco Jodar has pointed out that thanks to the continuous efforts of all municipal areas, which have been fully involved in improving accounts, the City Council is able to consolidate the economic autonomy it has been achieving over the last few years, that is, by ratifying Its self-financing, since the income that it has covers the own expenses.

Economic independence allows us to sustain the provision of quality services with our own resources and leave the debt to a technical minimum, which we will continue to reduce as we can and thanks to the positive developments we have generated.

This achievement confirms that the measures of optimization and efficiency in the economic area that we have been developing during these years have been especially beneficial for all Lorca.

In fact the budget effort we are doing allows Lorca to have sound and efficient accounts.

The debt fell at a rate of 50,000 euros per day

The Mayor has also informed that the reduction of municipal debt, one of the priority axes of action of the economic team of the City Council, continues to record more than remarkable progress, achieving during the past year to fall to 45 million euros, starting Of a limit situation in 2008 when it was 105 million.

In concrete figures, the debt of the Consistory is now 45 million, which is a reduction of 18 compared to the year corresponding to the year 2015. We are talking about that Lorca have managed to lower the debt at a rate of almost 50,000 euros per day during last year.
