The Local Police redouble its efforts to guarantee security during Holy Week and to cover all acts of the different brotherhoods (05/04/2017)

The special operation was launched on March 3 and will remain active until the dismantling and removal of the boxes are completed.

It comprises 2 phases;

Logistics and disconnect and intervention.

132 staff are mobilized, the entire staff.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, along with the Councilor for Public Safety in the City of Lorca, Mª Belén Pérez, has reported that the Local Police will redouble its efforts with the objective of ensuring the proper development of the multiple events that encompass our processions Of Holy Week.

The Special Operative prepared by Local Police for Holy Week 2017 is based on the work carried out in previous years, incorporating the new elements that are available and optimizing the coverage that the staff provides to the different Steps in their actions.

The First Edil has explained that the entire staff of the Local Police will be activated, which means the mobilization of a total of 132 troops during the days between Thursday, April 6 and Sunday 16. This device contemplates two operational phases:

Phase 1: Logistics and deployment: it has been underway since last Friday, March 3: A reinforcement device is established to deal with deviations and traffic cuts on the routes of the traditional Via Crucis, both Paso Morado (Nogalte - Calvario) and of Paso Incarnado (Barrio San Cristóbal), as well as the various trials of the portapasos of the different Brotherhoods.

It continues at 8:00 am on Monday, March 27th, on the occasion of the beginning of the work for the removal of traffic lights, street furniture and vertical signage at Avenida Juan Carlos I, and with the assembly work of the stands In the so-called "Processional Career".

With the aim of minimizing the impact of these assembly works both in the circulation of vehicles and people, and in commercial activity, the Traffic Control and Access Control services have been reinforced in the strategic points of the assembly area of Tribunes, with the main function of informing and regulating the access of suppliers, users, authorized neighbors, such as public transport, to the area where they are carried out.

It is about ensuring the safety of the road and pedestrian traffic.

The last part of this phase will be activated at the conclusion of the processions in Avenida Juan Carlos I, the night of Good Friday, as well as Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 coinciding with the work of removal of tribunes and cleaning.

The operation will conclude on Monday April 17 with the restoration of urban furniture in Juan Carlos I.

Phase 2: Intervention: It will be activated in all its development during the processions of Friday of Dolores, Palm Sunday, Thursday and Good Friday.

The implementation of phase 2 of the plan contemplates during the days of Glory, Monday, Tuesday and Holy Wednesday, as well as Holy Saturday and Resurrection Sunday, the deployment of troops to guarantee in an optimal way the needs of the brotherhoods.

It covers the deployment of troops in 3 areas of Police Interest, and distributed as follows:

A) External Perimeter (Preventive): External monitoring of the scope of influence of the Processes, the objective is through preventive and security controls, to provide an Integral Monitoring service in those nuclei of the urban area and areas of Pedanías, where the absence of residents In homes, precisely because of their attendance at the Procesiones, could provoke an easy goal for the commission of crimes against property.

It also includes the deployment of the UAP in the districts of the valley and the UPPSC in Barrios, parking areas and access routes to the center.

B) Safety perimeter (traffic, information): Pedestrian coordination of the zone of influence of the respective Processions, closing the same to the traffic and setting control points with a double mission, Regulation of traffic closure and diversions and an information service , Orientation and citizen attention.

These control points established in the Security Perimeter will be established in Cuesta de la Velica, Puente del Barrio, San Diego Bridge, Tocinos Bridge, Santa Quiteria Fairgrounds, and Ovalo Santa Paula

C) Internal Perimeter (Control and Surveillance): Establishment of Static Control Points, Pedestrian and Motorized Surveillance Patrols, in the interior and auxiliary perimeter of the so-called Av. Juan Carlos I and adjacent streets.

This is to ensure the operational deployment of control and surveillance with the presence of agents within 50 meters of each other.

This operation guarantees an optimal service to the citizen.

The control areas established in the Interior Perimeter are Avenida Juan Carlos I, Santo Domingo, Lope Gisbert, Corredera, Cuesta San Francisco, Nogalte, Alameda de la Constitución, Ramón y Cajal and Eugenio Úbeda-Fajardo El Bravo.

The deployment in this area will be reinforced in the pedestrian zones by Uprol and Canina units, as well as agents of the ordinary service.
