The first phase of the renovation of streets in the neighborhood of San Cristobal in Lorca is at 90 percent execution. The improvements consist of pavement renovation, replacement of services and burial of wiring and installation of a new supply and (11/04/2017)

The Ministry of Development and Infrastructure and the City of Lorca are finalizing the works of the first phase of renovation of streets in the neighborhood of San Cristobal in Lorca.

The director general of Planning, Architecture and Housing, Nuria Fuentes, and the Councilor for Works and Services, Eulalia Ibarra, today visited the works of seven streets that belong to this first phase and are at 90 percent execution.

Nuria Fuentes said that "these are works on Gilberte, Ponce de Leon, Rio Duero, Contreras, Tizón, Avellaneda and Ferrer streets, which are scheduled to be completed in early May."

The director general emphasized the "importance" of these works for the regional government, "since they are a further step in the reconstruction of Lorca, which is a priority and is the result of the work, coordination and effort of the Community and the City Council ".

The works consist of the renovation of the paving, replacing it mainly by paving stones, replacement of electricity supply services, supply and sanitation network, construction of a new rainwater collection network, which did not exist, burial of services wiring and Modernization of telecommunications services.

Likewise, work is being done on improving the accessibility of these vials and energy efficiency with the installation of LED luminaires in public lighting.

Nuria Fuentes announced that "the works that are part of the second phase of remodeling of the neighborhood of San Cristobal in the streets of Río Miño and Rincon de Oliver have already begun, and in the thirty remaining streets will begin after Easter."

The performances will be carried out in the streets Escalante, Melchor Navarro, River Segre, River Júcar, Sil River, Colmenar, Almanzar, Aragón, Beteta, Tomás Soler, Los Veras, Higuericas, Grajalva, crossing Ródenas, Miguel Ángel, Juan López, Funes, Montijo, Cayetano Lorca Navarro, Berrocal, Calvario Viejo, Tello, Charco, Serón, Río Mundo, García Bolea, Fray Beato, Pedro Soler, Juan Mínguez, Eulolio Periago and Abellaneda.

In the arrangement of this second phase of streets will be invested 6 million euros, and will use 26,000 square meters of cobblestone, 1,116 square meters of asphalt, 323 new street lamps with low consumption LED luminaires will be installed, 5,500 linear meters of pipeline Low voltage, 4,800 linear meters of supply lines, 4,400 square meters of sanitation pipes, 2,220 linear meters of rainwater pipes and 6,670 linear meters of telecommunications wiring.

The actions in these roads are part of a much larger project of comprehensive renovation of the Lorca neighborhood of San Cristobal, which began in 2007, covers a total of 58 streets and involves an investment by the Community of more than 7.5 million of euros.

The works are financed by the Community within the action plan developed in the city by the European Investment Bank (EIB), and will be implemented by the City Council.
