The Castle of Lorca will host the initiative "The Traces of Folklore in the Fortress of the Sun" next April 29 to mark the International Day of Dance. From 11:00 will be held 5 workshops with two different passes that will have As objective (27/04/2017)

The Councilor for Tourism in the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, announced the holding of the first edition of the cultural event "The Traces of Folklore in the Fortress of the Sun", which will take place at the Castle of Lorca on 29 April with The occasion of the International Day of Dance.

"Lorca Castle, the cultural center and emblem of the city, has been chosen as the place to show and experience the Lorca folklore. The celebration includes two passes that will contain a set of activities and educational didactics whose purpose is to put in value the cultural heritage of the city.

The first pass, with start time at 11:00, consists of 5 workshops, each lasting approximately 30 minutes: My Folklore, The Museum of Suit, The Importance of our Embroidery, Traditional Games and, Finally, Come and dance.

At 2:30 p.m., after the performance of the Children's Group and the performance of Choirs and Dances, the attending public will gather in the esplanade to start the meal.

A second pass will start at 15:30 and will include the same 5 workshops.

The solidarity price of the entrance will be 5 € from the 4 years of age and will include a rice dish accompanied by drink, as well as participation in various and dynamic workshops for children and adults.

The collection obtained throughout the day will be destined to the Group of Choirs and Dances of Lorca, organizer of the event in collaboration with "Lorca, Taller del Tiempo".

The group of Choirs and Dances of Lorca is constituted in the year 1.945 in order to rescue, preserve and diffuse the folklore of the Lorca region and its surroundings through the songs, dances, clothes and traditions inherited from our ancestors.

Today, the group of Choirs and Dances of Lorca, made up of more than 100 people, continues to have a firm and determined commitment to continue this great task of preserving and disseminating this popular heritage, inherited from previous generations and as a goal that does not The rich and varied Spanish folklore was lost.
