The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Autonomous Community, Francisco Jodar, will present on Tuesday the book "Infants without Legend" by Lieutenant General César Muro Benayas.

The appointment will be at 20 hours in the Palacio de Guevara.

"Infantes de leyenda" tells the wanderings of the Majorca Regiment in the Spanish colonization overseas in the middle of the eighteenth century, specifically in the present Republic of Uruguay and the Rio Grande.

The protagonists are soldiers of the Majorca Regiment, initially called Tercio Nuevo of the Navy of the Ocean Sea and that in 1862 would gain the nickname of "The Invincible" by the defense in the battle of the river Tedone in 1746. This Regiment had its last garrison in Lorca under the name Mallorca 13 until it was dissolved in 1995.

César Muro Benayas entered the General Military Academy in 1970, rising to Lieutenant in 1974. He has played most of his destinies in light units, especially paratroopers.

He commanded the Royal Guard of the House of His Majesty the King and directed the Academy of Infantry of Toledo.

As General of Division he held for three years the position of General Commander of Melilla, later to be promoted to Lieutenant General and appointed General Head of the Canary Islands Command.

In September 2012 he was appointed Head of the Military Emergency Unit, UME.

He has participated in military operations in the former Spanish Sahara, Iraqi Kurdistan after the Gulf War and in Bosnia Herzegovina.

He was decorated with the Grand Cross of Military Merit, Commendation and Plate and Great Cross of the Royal and Military Order of San Hermenegildo, among others, as well as decorations of the Republic of Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Argentina or France, among others.

Throughout his long military career he has also been concerned with culture, promoting the development of military culture in the university field, creating the chairs of Garcilaso de la Vega in Toledo, General Marina in Melilla and Major Sánchez Gey in Madrid.

He is the founder and president of the association Amigos del Camino Español de los Tercios, created for dissemination of the historical military actions of Spain.

"Infantes without legend" is the first book of a trilogy that will be completed with the works "Infantes con leyenda" and "Infantes de leyenda", intended to extol the role of military infantry both in history and today.
