The Councilors of Public Safety and Emergencies of the City of Lorca, Belén Pérez and Juan Miguel Bayonas, respectively, reported this morning that the Integral Center for Emergencies and Security is hosting during the month of July a Resilience and Mindfulness Workshop for staff who Serves these two areas of municipal management.

Juan Miguel Bayonas explained that "specifically, the staff of the Municipal Emergency and Civil Protection Service together with the Local Police are conducting this workshop, composed of 4 sessions of 2 hours duration held during the Monday of July and are directed By an expert in Mindfulness as Antonio Muno Molina, psychologist of the Municipal Emergency Service of Lorca. The sessions are carried out in a group of up to 15 people and in them combine exercises and metaphors on fundamental aspects in life along with works of meditation " .

The Councilor for Citizen Security added that "this workshop is a pioneer at the national level and is part of the internal training received by the emergency staff of the City of Lorca, and in this case has also moved to the local police force, As they are also exposed to events of emotional impact, attend emergency situations and must be prepared before any event that can happen. This course is free and joins other training actions developed by the Department of Emergencies, such as workshops First aid, which receives both Civil Protection volunteers and the Municipal Emergency Service.

The goals of this Resilience and Mindfulness Workshop are to become aware of internal states, to learn to focus attention and external stimuli relevant to each moment as well as to make decisions driven by values of behavior.

Workplace stress has become a widespread problem because of its role as a major cause of absenteeism, low productivity and disability due to illness.

The security and emergency personnel coexist in a context of work in which the continued exposure to events of emotional impact can lead to a progressive mental exhaustion.

An important psychological factor to promote in security and emergency personnel is Resilience.

This term refers to the ability to adapt well to adversity, to face traumas and significant sources of tension.

Scientific research has shown that the practice of Mindfulness brings great benefits both organic and mental, has shown its effectiveness to different behavior problems and is closely related to the development of Resilience.

Mindfulness refers to a series of techniques by which the ability to center the mind in the present, here and now, is developed, separating the person from their sensations, emotions, thoughts and memories, without making judgments or Valuations

In short, the two fundamental aspects of Mindfulness are to live the present moment and not to make judgments or evaluations, simply to feel what you feel.
