Works on Eulogio Periago de Lorca Street, one of the most emblematic access to the Lorca neighborhood of San Cristóbal, improve the mobility and safety of pedestrians by doubling the size of existing sidewalks.
The neighbors will have a street free of obstacles and unevenness, which includes underground containers and a pavement with stripped cobblestone strips and buttons and grooving, thus meeting the accessibility criteria.
Laura Sandoval, director general of Planning, Architecture and Housing, and the mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, highlighted today "the progress of the remodeling of this important way of entry to the urban area of ​​the city", in which Will invest more than 480,000 euros and whose execution is expected to conclude in November.

The actions on this street also include the traffic management, which will improve its fluidity, and the installation of sound-absorbing material in its roadway, which significantly reduces road traffic noise.
Likewise, the public lighting system will also be modernized with the installation of 24 new led luminaires on a curved column.
In addition to changing the aesthetics of this urban environment, the director indicated that the street renews with this work all its public infrastructures, supply and sanitation networks and incorporates a rainwater collection and disposal network, nonexistent to date, the Natural gas and telecommunications infrastructures.
Total investment of 7.5 million
The investment in the improvement of the San Cristóbal neighborhood amounts to 7.5 million euros, which will be used mainly for the renovation of pavement, replacement of services and underground cable, the installation of a new supply and sanitation network of 58 Streets
In addition to Eulogio Periago, it is currently working on renovating the following streets: Tomás Soler, Rincón de Oliver, Serón, Río Mundo, Río Miño, Fray Beato Pedro Soler, Juan Mínguez, Escalante, Grajalva and Travesía Ródenas, Gregorio García, Melchor Navarro, Segre River, Sil River, Rio Júcar, Calvario Viejo, and Tello.
The works are financed by the Autonomous Community within the action plan that develops in the city with charge of the European Investment Bank (EIB) loan, and will be executed by the City of Lorca.
