The PSOE proposes to asphalt the boulder of La Peñica that crosses the channel of the river to descongestionar of traffic the narrow crossing of the District of San Cristóbal (22/06/2017)

Romera believes that with this action vehicles, especially heavy vehicles, that go from the roads of the Swamp or Caravaca crossing the Guadalentín towards the road of La Parroquia or Eagles through the avenue of Santa Clara, would avoid the passage through the narrow Streets of the crossing of the San Cristóbal neighborhood, releasing of many annoyances to its neighbors and generating flows of traffic more fluid and direct.

The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, David Romera, has asked the Popular Party that, in collaboration with the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura, proceed to the adaptation and asphalting of the speed bump that La Peñica communicates with La Velica saving the riverbed Guadalentín.

With this proposal, it is pursued that the road traffic of passage that comes from the roads of Caravaca and the Swamp of Bridges and goes towards the Parish or Eagles through the Avenue of Santa Clara or vice versa, does not penetrate in the narrow streets Which form the urban crossing of the Barrio de San Cristóbal to cross the channel of the Guadalentín River, "generating a new communication road similar to the existing one in the Santa Quiteria bung and parallel to the Old Bridge that allows an alternative route to the neck that bottle that Suppose the streets of San Cristóbal ".

Romera argued that the action "is not especially technical and does not involve a great financial outlay" since the road between La Peñica and La Velica crossing the river bed is already open to traffic with sufficient width to allow simultaneous passage Of two vehicles, so that "only the access to the boulder had to be conditioned, to proceed to asphalting all the way, in a length of a little more than 300 meters, and to place the pertinent horizontal and vertical signaling".

In this way, David Romera proposes, an alternative route would be established to the existing one that would be used by workers and heavy vehicles, "to rid these traffic flows of the streets that form the crossing of San Cristóbal (La Peñica, Eulogio Periago, Plaza de la Estrella, Mayor Pelegrín Rodríguez), where high levels of noise and atmospheric pollution are reached ".

Finally, the socialist councilor has "positively" valued this proposed action, since it would mean diversifying the rigid scheme of road traffic in the area "without an excessive cost", generating flows of traffic more fluid and direct between several access routes and exit the city;

Would reduce traffic levels in the streets of San Cristobal and in the Old Bridge (especially the traffic of passage);

And this would result in an improvement in the quality of life of all the neighbors of this important Lorca neighborhood. "

David Romera denounced that the current speed bump already supports a significant traffic of vehicles, especially in rush hours, when the vehicles raise big dustbeds "more typical of the far west".
