The PSOE demands councilors of the PP to give a solution to the neighbors of Santiago regarding a building "squatting" with flooded basements (30/06/2017)

The building is located in the historic center on Soler Street, and the neighbors have informed the Municipal Socialist Group about the problems generated by a new 3-storey building completely abandoned, open day and night, and with the basement completely flooded .

Socialists demand the current mayor and councilors an immediate solution to this problem that affects hundreds of residents of the city's historic center.

The Socialist Municipal Group, through councilman David Romera, has denounced the existence in the middle of the historic center of Lorca, in the street Soler of the Barrio de Santiago, of a new building of three plants of height, with 30 houses, completely abandoned, that Is causing numerous problems to the neighbors of the area, since they have been enduring this situation for more than a year and a half.

The building, illegally occupied by up to 14 people, according to the neighbors themselves, is owned by a bank that took over the same after being embargoed to the developer that built it as a result of the financial and real estate crisis.

The socialist councilor asks the Popular Party and particularly the Councilors of Urbanism and Potenciación del Casco Histórico, Doña Saturnina Martínez and Doña Sandra Martínez, to "take a letter on the matter and urgently urge the banking entity that owns the building a solution To this problem, which leads the neighbors living in the Barrio de Santiago, since the property has a clear responsibility for the state of the building, a responsibility that must be demanded by the general interest of the citizens, and that in a way Subsidiary also falls on the City. "

Romera warns that the PP Government team is already aware of this situation after passing through the Municipal Register different writings sent by both residents of Santiago and the Socialist Group.

The Edil claims that if the entity that owns the building does not respond to solve this problem, that the City Council acts directly and that the costs are claimed after the property.

The state of the new building on Soler Street is deplorable after a year and a half with doors and windows completely open and abandoned to its fate.

This situation has led to the property, which lacks electric light, drinking water and sanitation systems, is "squatted" by several people, who even put animals inside, in disastrous sanitary conditions.

In addition they have disappeared doors and windows as well as all the furniture of the floors;

There have been wrecks throughout the building, and garbage and refuse accumulate in every corner.

In the same way, Romera warns that the immediate thing is "to proceed with the integral wall covering of doors and windows to prevent the building from being squatted again, as well as the cleaning and disinfection of the building, including extracting the water accumulated in the basements to eliminate what Is a source of infection in the center of Lorca, "a situation that worries a whole neighborhood."
