The Councilor of Oenegés of the City of Lorca, Maria del Carmen Ruiz, together with the President of Down Lorca, Jose Ortuño, inaugurated this morning the Inclusive Summer School that has launched the Down Lorca Association for this summer period.
The idea of ​​offering the users of this entity this Summer School during vacation time, part with the purpose of offering them the opportunity to be with a group of people with whom they can share leisure experiences out of the family environment.
María del Carmen Ruiz has stated that "it is a bet for users to have the opportunity to participate in playful-sporting dynamics with the necessary supports, so that they are meaningful and mediate in interactions with the rest of the boys in order that The main objectives of this program are the standardization of people with intellectual disabilities and the improvement of their interactions with society, and the ability to acquire a good model of interaction with the environment to strengthen their good social skills ".
The Councilor of Oenegés has reported that "The Summer School, which has 15 children with Down Syndrome and other associated disabilities, this year includes for the second time as an initiative of integration and standardization to 4 other children who do not have any disabilities. The Association also has for this edition with the collaboration of 4 volunteers who supervise the activities and contribute to the realization of the School ".
The Summer School will offer diverse activities throughout these weeks as it is the case of exits to the municipal swimming pools, to the beach, visit to the School of Summer of the School City of the Sun, activities of sport and relaxation and multiple activities of character During the visit to the beach, it should be noted that the participating children had the opportunity to interact with other children without disabilities of this school in various activities carried out on the beaches of Águilas.
The main idea is that all children, with and without disabilities, contribute something to the group and thus the inclusion will be more complete and real.

The Association "Down Lorca" is a non-profit organization with scope of action in the region of Lorca, which integrates people with Down syndrome, Intellectual Disability and their families.
One of its fundamental objectives is to achieve the maximum independence and autonomy of this group, facilitating a life as standardized as possible and achieving their family, school, social and work integration to achieve the happiness and full acceptance of the person with Down syndrome and Disability Intellectual.
It was established in 2013 by a group of parents of people with Down Syndrome, committed and willing to find solutions that can offer their children the necessary opportunities to develop as people with all their rights and create a life project with which be happy.
