The City of Lorca, in the tailgate van of transparency (10/07/2017)

The PSOE denounces the mismanagement of the Popular Party that makes the City of Lorca suspended in transparency, occupying the position 77 of 110 and with a score that is below the average.

The Councilor of the PSOE, María Ángeles Mazuecos has expressed concern after hearing the latest Transparency Index of the City Councils prepared by Transparency International, which leaves Lorca in the tailgate van for transparency.

After examining 110 local administrations, this non-governmental organization concludes in its report that Lorca is ranked 77, with an overall assessment of 88.8 out of 100, behind Murcia and Cartagena.

The report reveals that the City of Lorca, through the government team of the Popular Party "has much to do" in transparency, when it comes to bringing citizenship information.

The worst indicators presented by the City of Lorca, are related to the information they offer in relation to economic and financial data, where socialists ask "what has to hide the Popular Party and its councilman Economy and Finance."

Mazuecos said that these data "are not to be happy" and demands that the Popular Party councils "put their batteries" starting by following the recommendations and proposals raised in recent years by the Municipal Socialist Group.

The socialist mayor warns that the opacity and lack of accountability on the part of the PP government team "is not new", remembering that "there are numerous" requests for information from different opposition groups "even without answer".

In addition, María Ángeles Mazuecos recalled the "battery of initiatives" to make the Lorca consistory "a council with walls of glass" that the Socialist Party has raised the PP "without success."

Among other measures, Edil recalls the motion with which the PSOE denounced a few months ago the "censorship and partisan use" that the PP "did and continues to do" institutional media, such as the municipal website and social networks.

Similarly, from the PSOE demand that the agenda of the Mayor "be public", because at present and despite the existence of the space on the municipal website "is empty."

From the PSOE remember that the agenda of socialist councilors "is public and visible to all citizens."

In addition, they again request the live broadcast of the municipal plenary sessions.

From the PSOE also requested a few months ago the creation of the electronic bidding platform for minor contracts in the City of Lorca, as a tool to bet on transparency and to not continue to offer the image of a closed, opaque City Hall and where It seems that they always work the same ".

In terms of citizen participation, the PSOE recalls its proposal for the creation of a "web agenda" where to put in common and make visible the initiatives and activities of local groups and associations, and again request that the consistory work towards a web 2.0 Which will make it easier for citizens to manage their municipal procedures through a better and more accessible electronic administration.
