The PSOE denounces that Rafael Mendez is still "in the queue" with the greater waiting times for surgery and specialties (14/07/2017)

Sánchez Jódar demands the heir of the Mayor of Lorca not to inherit the complacency of the previous Mayor to the Regional Government, and not allow "not a second more" the discrimination that maintains the regional leaders of his party to Lorca and to area III of health

The PSOE deputy spokesman in the City of Lorca, Marisol Sánchez Jódar has denounced that the Hospital Rafael Méndez is "on the tail" of regional hospitals, with the "worst indicators" that force Lorca to "suffer the greatest waiting times Of the Region "to be able to be attended both in surgery and in external consultations of specialties.

From the PSOE they demand to the Health that initiates measures "extraordinary and imminent" with which to equip the Rafael Méndez of the human and technical means necessary to match it with the rest of hospitals of reference and to equal the times of waiting to the regional average.

Measures that, of course, "do not go through the closure of plants that again, the PP has imposed on Rafael Méndez during the summer months."

According to data made available by the Ministry of Health regarding the waiting times recorded during the second quarter of 2017, Sánchez Jódar has noticed that in area III there are currently 3,483 patients waiting for scheduled operations, Are already "more than 750" patients who "wait more than 150 days to be operated."

On average, Lorca wait almost 100 days for a scheduled operation, 12 days longer than any citizen of the Region of Murcia.

Sánchez Jódar warns that this data confirms that Health "continues to fail" the deadlines set by Decree 25/2006, according to which it is established as a maximum waiting period up to 150 calendar days for surgical interventions.

For this reason, the PSOE councilor encourages patients to claim from the Murcian Health Service the dignified attention that "by law" they are entitled to receive and, therefore, encourages them to avail themselves of the guarantees that the decree establishes in case That the established maximum delays should be exceeded, as it insists "is happening".

Regarding the waiting times in specialist consultation, Sanchez Jódar says that despite the "slight improvement experienced" the indicators in Lorca remain "very negative" as the start situation "was and remains alarming."

The data from June reveal that Lorca have to wait on average to be treated at the first specialist consultation 85 days, 32 days longer than what is expected on average by any citizen residing in another part of the Region of Murcia.

Marisol Sánchez links the slight reduction in waiting times to referrals that Sanidad is doing to other centers, and not to the plan of shock requested by the Socialists to equip Rafael Méndez with the necessary human and technical means that "still does not arrive" .

Therefore, from the PSOE recommend to the heir of the Mayor who does not inherit the complacency of the previous Mayor and does not allow "a second more" the discrimination that the regional leaders of his party maintains towards Lorca and to the area III of health.
