The Mayor is committed to moving forward with the ambitious battery of improvements in the network of educational infrastructures throughout the municipality (24/07/2017)

The First Edil has stated that "a strong city, as our Lorca Nueva, inexcusably passes our children and grandchildren an educational system of guarantees, since a well-educated and educated child improves the society in which he lives ".

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has stated that the reconstruction and improvement of all educational centers that serve in our municipality is placing Lorca at the forefront in terms of educational infrastructure.

Lorca now has schools, institutes, conservatory and a University Campus in continuous renovation and improvement.

We have all been able to build a wide network of educational facilities that constitute a model of reference.

It is a achievement that encourages us to continue advancing and claiming the educational advances that Lorca deserve.

In fact the commitment that we have from the City Hall with the educational fabric of our municipality is firm, so we will continue working from this premise

Fulgencio Gil stressed that the growth of Lorca educational infrastructures corresponds to the development of the city.

We must remember that the future of Lorca is based on the education we are able to offer our new generations.

The Mayor has also indicated that the progress made is a stimulus to continue working in this regard.

Lorca depends on our management to enjoy educational infrastructures of the highest order, and for this we will continue to claim the issues we consider justice for Lorca.

We must recognize that the investment effort that from the Autonomous Community, through the Ministry of Education, is materializing throughout the municipality especially to recover from the ravages that produced the earthquake of 2011. But now we can not stop, but take advantage The impulse and continue to grow as a city, since it is about education from where we are raising a new Lorca.

Fulgencio Gil has pointed out that one of the most significant examples of educational investments in our city has been the site of the institutes José Ibáñez Martín and Francisco Ros Giner.

Although the first of them could be repaired after the earthquakes, the second one did not withstand the telluric movement and had to be torn down and rebuilt.

The investment at the time exceeded 4.5 million, to which has been added 900,000 euros to provide a covered sports center for the use of the approximately 2,200 students of both centers, as well as works to improve comprehensive urbanization of Enclosure of the institutes.

This last investment, already in execution is expected to be completed, but unforeseen emergencies of relevance, over a period of 9 months, and has an economic amount of 850,000 euros.

The Mayor visited this morning the shared premises of both centers along with the Counselor of Education of the CARM, Adela Martinez-Cachá, and the Deputy Mayor of Lorca and Councilor for Education, Francisco Montiel.

The Councilor explained that the work in progress will consist of improving the patios of both centers and the construction of modern facilities with four sports courts.

In addition, two locker rooms have been designed, each with a capacity of 30 people and a constructed area of ​​almost 200 square meters, also prepared for use by each of the two institutes autonomously.

As a complement to the sporting use, a cross circuit of a length of 527 meters has been defined, which will run between all the pieces on the school grounds, where a track for a 50 meter speed race will also be built.

Martinez-Cachá also noted that "the Ros Giner Institute is being equipped with new furniture, such as the more than 140 chairs that just received the center and the next installation of digital whiteboards and interactive monitors with which the center will be equipped."

On the other hand, the head of Education stressed the "commitment of the regional Executive with Lorca and its educational infrastructure."

In this regard, he said that "the works of the new children's ward of the Campico Campillo have already been completed" and announced that "in the coming months, CEIP Juan Navarro García de la Hoya's expansion works will be started, which are already budgeted."

He also stressed that "this summer improvements are being made at the IES Pedanías Altas de La Paca, at CEE Pilar Soubrier and at IES San Juan Bosco" and recalled that "these works have a budget of more than 60,000 euros."

The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports recalled that "since 2011 the Community has invested 30 million euros in improving schools in Lorca, and the commitment of the regional government is to continue improving infrastructure to improve the quality of education."
