The PSOE denounces the chaos in which the Barrio de San Cristóbal is plagued by poor planning of the works (25/07/2017)

David Romera demands to the PP immediate measures to speed up the execution of the works, to improve the preventive security for users and neighbors, as well as to inform neighbors about the changes in the itineraries and traffic management in the neighborhood.

The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, David Romera has echoed the problems that, to merchants and neighbors, are generating urban regeneration works that are running in the neighborhood of San Cristobal, due to poor planning of the same.

This complaint joins those already raised several weeks ago by other opposition groups, although the situation "far from solving, has been getting worse".

The complaints of merchants and neighbors agree according to the Socialist mayor, "in the bad planning that has been done in selecting the streets to regenerate."

He warns that at the moment, "very busy roads" are being built simultaneously, along which traffic flows as well as the traffic of neighbors that have to reach their homes "and that" they have to make many detours. "

This, together with the lack of signaling of the incidents generated by the works and the alternative routes in the access to the neighborhood and in the interior of the neighborhood, "is generating traffic problems and many headaches, especially drivers who Do not live in the area or in Lorca and do not know where to circulate. "

An example is the route that has been created to go from San Cristobal to the Caravaca road, where drivers are diverted by the Old Bridge and the bite of La Peñica, whose asphalt and conditioning has already been requested by the PSOE without a response by Part of the PP.

But there are more complaints.

Romera says that neighbors and merchants complain "of the slowness with which the works are being executed, due to numerous stops."

On the other hand, warns that "the works are being executed with few preventive security measures".

It is customary that containers (for which even a person can catch), log drains, unevenness, stockpiles and large ditches are "without any protection or minimal", which increases the risk that Accidents may occur due to falls among pedestrians, especially older people and children, while at many portals "no access gates to homes are being put up".

From the PSOE they demand that "preventive security measures" be "extended" as it is done in other areas of the city, as in the works of Avenida Juan Carlos I, and that the Government team is "demanding and vigilant" in this sense.

Similarly, neighbors and merchants request that in the execution of works (earthworks, excavations, collection of materials, etc.) proceed to the "periodic spraying" of the streets under construction to avoid "clouds and vortices of dust "Which are so annoying, especially now in summer when doors and windows of the houses remain open by the heat, provoking in many neighbors eye and respiratory problems.

Finally, Romera believes that the PP government team "has to treat equally all the residents of Lorca who are suffering the consequences of reconstruction works that are necessary and not only focus the greater resources on the works that are Run in the center of the city ".

To conclude, Romera recalls that it is "very necessary" that in the Barrio de San Cristóbal, after the works, complementary actions are carried out for its empowerment as a commercial and service center and that have been claimed on many occasions by the PSOE as Is a Plan for Commercial and Tourist Reactivation, the modernization of the Plaza de Abastos de las Hortalizas or the immediate construction of a new Health Center with emergency services, planned for ten years and in a situation of indefinition that is not understood.
