In just a few days, projects underway have been monitored in strategic axes for the development of a new Lorca: Environmental integration and optimization of the waste center (4.3 million), improvement in institutes Ros Giner and Ibáñez Martín (1.75 million) To which today is added the integral improvement of Alameda de Cervantes (3.2 million).

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, along with the Director of Presidency and Development of the CARM, Pedro Rivera, has supervised the development of the work of integral improvement that are being carried out in Alameda de Cervantes, and has affirmed that "the works to obtain Between all a new Lorca, stronger, modern and adapted to the demands of the Lorca continue to advance. Lorca does not stop, and the joint challenge of our society is to continue taking advantage of this investment momentum in all areas.

The First Edil has pointed out that in terms of investments for the construction of a new Lorca, only in recent days we have analyzed and informed of strategic actions in such important axes as the construction of new educational facilities, modernization and strengthening of the waste center And now we continue with the process of renovation of our streets, neighborhoods and squares.

The Mayor has explained that in the case of Alameda de Cervantes the works have a term of execution of 12 months and a budget of € 3.2 million financed entirely by the Autonomous Community.

The urban renewal of the Alameda de Cervantes is an essential project for the development of Nueva Lorca, since it is a strategic route that links with access to Lorca through the Central Round, but also because in recent times Has become a residential area for an increasing number of Lorca.

The project will benefit an area of ​​more than 40,000 m2 between the Oval and the Ronda, in addition to include adjacent roads such as Alameda Rafael Méndez, María Agustina, urbanization La Isla, ... and the opening of a new connection with Camino Marin parallel to the train track.

All the basic internal infrastructures and all the public adornments will be renovated: pavement, furniture, new children's games and gerontogimnasia devices, and green spaces and vegetation will be enhanced.

It is also necessary to emphasize that through this work we are going to put a definitive solution to some of the endemic problems of this area.

For example, the new storm collector will resolve the water retention occurring at the Cat Crossing whenever it rained heavily.

It will also include improvements to consolidate Lorca as "Smart City", betting equally by energy efficiency through LED lights and an innovative photovoltaic system.

In the layout will highlight the elimination of unevenness, improving accessibility.

There is also an optimization of mobility, both road traffic and pedestrians, building two roundabouts that will speed up traffic.

La Alameda de Cervantes will become a modern area, better communicated and with more resources available to all its neighbors, who have participated in the process of creating the project.

Thanks to this ambitious process we will complete the improvement of an area that has gone from being a mere access road to the center to becoming a strategic area because of the number of neighbors, commercial facilities and public services as important as the police station, Lorca-Sutullena Health Center, the Mental Health Center, the Municipal School of Plastic Arts, the School of Music, the Municipal Infantile School, the Local Development Center, the Department of Social Services or the Early Care Center.

With this ambitious renovation the Community and the City Council continue completing the integral process of improvement of the municipality started after the earthquakes and that is making Lorca a more accessible, efficient, connected city, with more resources and possibilities;

In short, a better city.

The Minister of Development, Pedro Rivera said that "there is a new Lorca thanks to the great effort of all" and stressed that since the earthquakes of 2011, the regional government has allocated 55.6 million euros in the renovation of neighborhoods and another 30 Millions to the improvement of roads.

He stressed that "we continue to support the Lorca to raise the new Lorca", where works are being carried out in ten neighborhoods for 40 million euros, in addition to other important road actions, such as the construction of the Central Round, and Which will involve an overall investment of 60 million.

Pedro Rivera stressed that these works will simultaneously be executed in the coming months with the completion of the rebuilding of the Barrios Altos and the execution of the remodeling of the neighborhood of Los Angeles and Apolonia, Avenida Juan Carlos I and the section 1 of the Central Round, all of which are currently under construction.

The improvements include proposals for great innovation and uniqueness, such as the planned performance in the square Bordadora Apolonia Ros, or the adaptation of the vicinity of the railroad tracks and the Institute of Secondary Education Ros Giner, through the implementation of a park 'street workout' Linked to the institute.

The design of all the new actions are based on the criterion of energy efficiency and sustainability, and incorporate the lighting to the fireware platform, in coherence with the project of Lorca 'smart city'
