BORM publishes today the announcement of the tender of the works, which have a budget of 3.5 million euros
The Ministry of Presidency and Development has today tendered the works of conditioning and construction of the new road of the Barrios Altos de Lorca, which will link communication of the highest areas of the urban area and improve its connection with the north of the city.
This project, whose announcement today publishes the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM), has a budget of more than 3.5 million euros.
Councilor Pedro Rivera, stressed that this action "is one of the most important that are projected in the new Lorca because it will improve access to the High Barrios, very close to important cultural and tourist infrastructure of the municipality, such as the Castle and the Parador National, and to transform the highest area of ​​the city and that presents a very deteriorated aspect ".
Rivera stressed that the new road "is one of the works of vertebration of the most important communications of the regional government in Lorca, next to the Central Round, which is now underway the route between the neighborhoods of San Diego and Apolonia and Will improve circulation of 20,000 vehicles per day. "
The new perimeter roadway will significantly improve communications in the Upper Barrios, located in the highest area of ​​the urban area of ​​the city and encompassing five population areas: Calvary, San Lázaro, San Pedro, Santa María and San Juan.
Its route of 780 meters of length will cross the Barrios Altos and will have its origin in the street Ramblilla of San Lázaro until arriving at the roundabout of Santa Maria, where it finishes.
The counselor stressed the complexity of this action because the new road "runs on a very rugged terrain and an urban area with an irregular ordering, with a sinuous development, large slopes, without defined alignments and where the dwellings are arranged half a slope above The skirt of the mountain ".
One of the objectives of the action will be to widen the width of the road to guarantee the passage of two vehicles and adapt to the traffic that supports this area.
Rivera stressed that the extension of the road is necessary because "to this day there are narrowings that do not allow the passage of a vehicle."
It will also consolidate the slopes of the rocky massif that presents deteriorations and deformations.
To this end, lateral containment walls will be constructed to contain slopes.
In addition, an explanation of the road will be made, sidewalks will be built, banisters and street lamps will be provided and the basic water, sewerage and electricity services will be provided.
Likewise, the project includes other improvements such as the reconstruction of a sports court affected by the work, the construction of a children's area and a viewpoint overlooking the city taking advantage of a rocky massif located in the area.
The deadline for all actions is 14 months.
The investment of 3.5 million euros will be made in two annual installments charged to the loan contracted by the Autonomous Community with the European Investment Bank (EIB).
