The Councilor for Development and Infrastructure of the City of Lorca, Ángel Meca, and the Director General of Highways of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, visited this morning the beginning of works to improve the regional road RM -D8 that are being made between kilometers 12 and 14.7, in the section between Campo Lopez and the intersection with the RM-D4 (Morata Mazarrón).
The works, which are being carried out by the Ministry of Development of CARM, consist of the repair and regularization of the road sign.
The action is focused on remodeling the firm, which was in a poor state of conservation with deformations and blandones due to the cleaning work carried out due to the intense snows recorded at the beginning of the year.
As part of these actions, the existing potholes will also be eliminated, to avoid degrading the lower layers of the pavement generating blandones, as well as the current danger for road traffic.
In addition, it is intended to make a preliminary patching with limestone and emulsion in localized sections, in order to fill the areas in poor condition and then apply a double surface treatment.
Once the double treatment is finished, a protective irrigation with asphalt emulsion will be performed and at the end of the works the lateral bands will be painted with white acrylic paint.
The investment of this repair exceeds 36,000 euros and is expected to be completed by mid-August.
It should be recalled that the RM-D8 is a regional third-level road that supports an average traffic intensity of 1,306 vehicles per day, of which 77 are heavy.
