A lot of atmosphere and a participation of 276 runners in one of the most attractive mountain events in the Region of Murcia |
Converted for its own merits in one of the most prestigious mountain trials at national level, the Peñarrubia Lorca Trail celebrated its sixth edition on Sunday consolidating its prominence in the regional and national calendar and recalling its fundamental social work.
Organized by the Department of Sports and the Mountaineering Federation of the Region of Murcia, the Peñarrubia Lorca Trail, Regional Championship Absolute Individual, welcomed the participation of 276 runners of which 271 reached the goal, a figure that is impressive if we consider that in its first edition was only 40 registered.
In fact, those registered on this occasion rose to 314 confirming the enormous pull of the competition.
This test offers a remarkable tour through the Sierra de la Peñarrubia, through a unique natural setting;
but it is also a challenge because of its unevenness and demand.
The circuits have repeated for third year since the riders themselves recognize their great level each year.
Concretely they were two: on the one hand the Short Trail, of 12'3 kilometers and with a positive difference of 700 meters;
on the other, the challenge of the Trail Long, of 24'2 kilometers and with a positive difference of 1,600 meters.
But above the sport is solidarity.
And it is that the inscriptions are destined to the Association of Parents and Mothers of the Center of Early Attention of Lorca (APAT) so that they can continue with the great work that they realize for the benefit of the boys and girls, reason why there can be no better excuse to enjoy physical activity.
At 9 o'clock in the morning, the departure was at La Rambla de las Señoritas.
The corridors of the Short Trail had to cross the Rambla del Pino, the Mirador del Valle, the Paths of the Hunter and La Canalica, Las Viñas, Escarambrujo, Las Salicas, Senda del Cejo and Los Pilones, to return to Mirador del Valle, Rambla del Pino and return to the Ladies.
In this category the male winner was Raul Lorca Garcia with a time of 1:09:37, while the first female was Maria Victoria Soler Jiménez with a time of 01:29:00.
The participants of the Trail Largo, after realizing the first kilometers by the same route that those of the Short, took from the Path of the Hunter the trail of the Peñarrubia to ascend until the vertex geodesic and to take the Path of the Ethiopian, the Colored ones, the Rambla of Cambrón, trough of the Cejo and Quintilla, equator of the route.
The following kilometers passed through La Ramblica, Fuente del Hilo, forest trail of the Peñarrubia, the Paths of Zorro, Cazador and La Canalica, Las Viñas, Escarambrujo, Las Salicas and Cejo, to undertake the return to finish through Los Pilones, the Mirador del Valle and the Rambla del Pino until Las Senas.
A journey, in short, as demanding as attractive.
In the masculine absolute the winner was Juan Javier Jiménez Oller with a time of 2:13:14.
In the women's category Laura Guillén Segura was forced to stop the clock in 3:12:59.
The day ended with a meal of coexistence with which runners and volunteers of APAT celebrated the success of this test so supportive.
From the organization we want to regret the appearance of graffiti and tapes in some of the areas where the test took place and that were warned during the last days.
From the Department of Sports has been reported this situation before the Civil Guard and SEPRONA to investigate until those who have committed such action against the natural environment, a space of great value that from the Department of Sports and Sports Games of Guadalentín always has been committed to its value and to make society aware of the importance of its respect.
