The PSOE asks that the desalination plant of the Cerro Colorado runs to full capacity to overcome the lack of water in Lorca (27/09/2017)

They hope that Gil Jódar will support this motion of the PSOE, and will not again betray the Lorca as he did in his last speech as Senator of the PP, when he voted against an amendment to the General State Budget, with which the PSOE requested 5 million for the construction of the rafts or 15 to build photovoltaic plants with which to produce electricity needed to desalt and lower the cost of water.

The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Antonio Navarro has presented the motion with which the socialists Lorca will promote in the next municipal meeting immediate measures to alleviate the worrying water deficit affecting irrigators and farmers Lorca.

Navarro urges to put into operation the desalination plant of Cerro Colorado, Eagles, to overcome the lack of water in the municipality.

They warn that, due to the bad foresight of the Popular Party Governments, the Aguilas desalination works only at 70% of its capacity.

In fact, many irrigators continue to see the pipe pass through their land without being able to irrigate, because the PP "did not contemplate at the beginning the installation of the necessary regulation and pressure rafts."

To do this, they will again demand the current Mayor to mediate "wherever and whoever" to achieve the immediate construction of the 6 regulation and pressure rafts "still pending" and ensures "are essential for the storage of desalinated water and for the production of water uninterrupted ".

Navarro says that with the installation of these rafts there would be 30% more desalinated water, and would allow all the irrigated land to be eligible for use.

Another of the socialist initiatives that the PSOE will put back on the table is its proposal to lower the price of desalinated water by installing photovoltaic plants that reduce the energy cost of production.

Navarro says that there are studies, such as those endorsed by the Foundation for Sustainable Development, which show that obtaining electric energy would be up to 40% cheaper, thus achieving that the cost of production of desalinated water is lower and this has a proportional impact on the price of desalinated water for irrigation.

In addition, the Lorca socialists will ask the government team to mediate, through the Segura Hydrographic Confederation or with the appropriate administration, to allow the transfer of rights between watersheds with surpluses and watersheds with deficits, favoring the free sale of those rights between Irrigating Communities.

From the conviction that the PSOE has been the only party that has managed to provide solutions to the drought in this land, against the years of "deception and manipulation" of the PP in the Region with the water theme, socialists will continue to work for to provide solutions to Lorca irrigators.

Navarro hopes that Gil Jódar rectifies and does not betray Lorca again, as he did in his last speech as Senator of the PP, when he voted against an amendment to the General State Budget, with which the PSOE requested 5 million euros for the construction of the rafts or 15 million euros to build photovoltaic plants with which to produce electricity needed to desalinate and thus lower the cost of water.
