Each year, when a new edition of the Sports Games is presented, hundreds of people are looking for a date in the calendar: the celebration of the Mountain Night Crossing.

And is that the name of this activity is synonymous with the Games, as they have grown at the same time during the last 39 years and because both bet on the sport in a framework of coexistence and fellowship.

This weekend of change of month was the most anticipated date for the Mountain Crossing to bring together hundreds of participants to enjoy nature and physical activity.

This year the Crossing returned to one of its favorite landscapes but that had not received the test for many years: the surroundings of the Pantano de Puentes.

The area has several natural charms;

allows crossers to see the largest forest of tares in Europe and walk trails admiring the water of the marsh itself, an area of ​​great value because it is space for breeding waterfowl;

and is that one of the objectives of this activity is to publicize different natural spaces of the municipality characterized by its great value.

The base camp was located in the great pinewood that surrounds the reservoir and during the afternoon of Saturday the crossers began to mount their tents.

At 21 hours the first teams began their participation in this test in which does not win the fastest, but the most regular.

As every year, 3 courses were offered so that all teams could enjoy the day regardless of the preparation, with the added advantage that all routes were circular.

The Long Crossing had a length of 21 kilometers and crossed the rivers Luchena rivers, with water, and the river Vélez, without water.

The Travesía Corta had a length of 11.5 kilometers, more accessible than the Long, but still with several challenges for the participants.

And, finally, the 5-mile Family Cruise with which the youngest begin to enjoy this test.

Continuously the teams were being called to the exit zone, where they studied the map to face their route, before leaving and to enter in this amusing adventure.

Until 5:00 am, the teams were completing the test and getting back to the camp some repairing crumbs and hot chocolate.

Already in the morning shared the traditional lunch of coexistence before proceeding to the delivery of medals to the best teams.

In the Family Crossing, in which 22 teams participated, he won "Villaricos 4x4 Family", followed by "Aconcagua" and "Los Grassmontes" as third parties.

In La Corta, which had the participation of 32 teams, the winners were "Lost Team", in second place were "Amsterdamer" and the third place went to the "Lorca-Santiago Association".

As for Long, in which 15 teams participated, the gold went to "White Walkers and Juan Carlos", the silver went to "Pura Vida" and bronze for "Chema, Stand up and walk".

It is necessary to emphasize that the organization wanted to have a memory for a historical collaborator of this test like it was Antonio Fernandez, who passed away last summer.

In tribute to his constant collaboration, the point of control in which he collaborated for so many years was baptized with his name, as a humble sign of affection towards his person.

It should also be noted that the test was normal and there were no major losses.

All this was possible thanks to the collaboration of more than a hundred volunteers who during the previous months, weeks, days and throughout the night ensured that the test was the success that has us so accustomed and taking care of all the logistics that require an activity of this magnitude.
