The Mayor praises the work performed by the National Police Corps throughout Spain during the act of the Guardian Angels held this morning in Lorca (02/10/2017)

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, along with the Government Delegate in the Region of Murcia, Antonio Sánchez-Solís, participated in the institutional ceremony of awarding the National Police on the occasion of the celebration of the Guardian Angels that has took place in the Plaza of Spain.

Fulgencio Gil said: "I am convinced that society has to take advantage of this event to deliver the most sincere thanks to all the agents who, from the National Police force, look after our security. of all Spain, are an example of self-denial, selflessness and altruism. Every day at all hours they take care of the citizens demonstrating that theirs is not a job, but a professional vocation they carry with pride.

The Mayor of Lorca, in this regard, stressed that "the clearest example of their effort and dedication we saw yesterday with the magnificent work they carried out in Catalonia to defend constitutionality and the rule of law. we have given them a solid support given to all Spaniards and, of course, the Lorca people, for their impeccable performance in Catalonia. We must continue to fight for this common project that is called Spain and is the oldest nation in Europe.

Gil has stated that "wearing this uniform means assuming a huge commitment, being part of a security body essential for the citizen and that is used in times of most pressing need." For Lorca it is an honor that the celebration of the Guardian Angels of the National Police Corps was held in the city, and in a place as emblematic as the Plaza de España. Today I want to express the adhesion and unconditional support of the Lorca people to the National Police, one of the security corps with more prestige in its operation within and outside our borders, as well as being pioneers in the fight against terrorism. "

October 12, Hispanic Heritage Day

The City Council of Lorca will commemorate next Thursday, October 12, the day of the national holiday with an act of exaltation of the Spanish flag to be held in the Plaza de Colón.

The act will begin at 11 am and will consist of the raising of the national flag to the chords of the Spanish anthem, composed by the lorquino Bartolomé Pérez Casas commissioned by King Alfonso XIII according to the arrangements of the Granadera March and which will interpret the Municipal Band of Music.

The flag of Spain that will be hoisted has an area of ​​two by four meters and will wave on a 15-meter-high mast, which since 2007 presides over Columbus Square.

Fulgencio Gil will preside over the event and will be in charge of raising the national flag.

The Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, has invited all Lorca to join this celebration bearing flags of Spain and honoring our banner, a symbol of the Spanish Nation and a sign of the sovereignty, independence, unity and integrity of the country, which advocates freedom, justice, equality and political pluralism as the highest values ​​constitutionally recognized, all within the framework of our Social and Democratic State of Law.
