The Department of Urbanism will incorporate to the text of the Beach Ordinance the citizen contributions (16/10/2017)

This is the first text prepared in this sense, for which the Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, has called for maximum consensus with the aim of establishing a regulatory framework that reflects the interests of all Lorca.

The Councilor for Town Planning in the City of Lorca, Saturnina Martínez, has reported that the Municipal Council will contemplate in the regulatory text of the Beach Ordinance all proposals that have been submitted by citizens during the period of public exposure.

It is a matter of complying with the indications expressed by the Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, who pointed out the need for this Ordinance, a pioneer in the history of our municipality, to include the proposals that Lorca considered, weighing its fit in the current regulatory framework , with the aim that the result is properly agreed and responds to the existing needs.

Satur Martínez explained that the proposals addressed to the City Council in this regard have centered on petitions regarding the establishment of shared and permitted uses in certain coastal coves, as well as other issues linked to sports and recreational practices.

Since the Municipal Administration has now focused the work on matching these contributions, to finalize the final text as soon as possible.

This is an issue that requires an additional effort that is being commissioned by municipal technicians, reviewing ordinances of similar characteristics and checking the result they have obtained in other municipalities to optimize the harmonizing effectiveness of the text.

The Edil de Urbanismo has indicated that the City Council implemented the possibilities of citizen contribution within the term of presentation of proposals with the objective of incorporating to the municipal ordinance that the municipality counts on the beaches located in its strip of coast, with spaces enabled for the practice of naturism, as well as areas available for pets and smoke-free beaches.

We will try, in addition and as far as possible and always according to the current legal regulations, to offer areas for caravan parking and for the practice of leisure and sports activities.

Satur Martínez has stressed that the goal is that all Lorca can feel totally identified with our beaches and the use we want to make of them.

Thanks to this ordinance the beaches of Lorca have regained prominence, especially since it was announced the initial approval by the Plenum of the City Council to its draft.

It is very positive that we talk about our beaches again and that the focus of public attention is directed towards a space of great beauty and marked natural richness.

It is interesting that we speak well of our beaches and make themselves known.

It is worth remembering that, thanks to the work of conservation, cleanliness and tourism promotion that has been developing during the last years, this year, and for the first time in the history of the municipality, we have achieved that Calnegre Creek is recognized with the Blue flag.

Lorca enjoy a coastline of pristine beaches, constituting one of the most outstanding examples of all the Spanish Mediterranean to the effect.

Lorca has a stretch of coastline that stretches along 9 kilometers of 13 beaches: Playa Larga, Cala Blanca, Playa de los Hierros, Cala Leña, Cala de la Grotta, Playa Junquera, Cuartel del Ciscar Beach, Cala Honda, San Pedro Beach, Siscal Beach, Women's Bath Beach, Calnegre Beach and Puntas de Calnegre Beach.
