The Department of Development tendered for 1.9 million the construction of a new bridge on the Aguaderas road on the Rambla de Biznaga (27/10/2017)

Improvements to access to the castle, meanwhile, include asphalting and widening of the access to the castle in the area of Murviedro, forming a communication channel 8 meters wide, in addition to consolidating the rocky massif and other improvement interventions .

The mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has reported that the Ministry of Presidency and Development has tendered today in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM) works that will allow the construction of a new bridge on the Aguaderas road RM-D8) on the boulevard of Biznaga, which has a budget of more than 1,9 million euros.

This action will mean an improvement in road safety for drivers crossing the rambla, as avenues of a certain water intensity cause the road to be cut off and can put at risk the vehicles passing through.

The First Edil has stated that the Lorca are leading the most important historical moment in the investment landscape, achieving the most important period of growth, transformation and modernization of our history.

It is not a question, as we have repeatedly pointed out, of being satisfied with recovering from the tragic earthquakes of 2011 and the very serious floods of 2012, but of emerging from such a difficult situation.

For this we have had the support of CARM, personalized in our President Fernando López Miras, who destines to Lorca 195 million euros only in terms of infrastructure improvement.

Fulgencio Gil has emphasized that we are contemplating how the Lorca's effort makes it possible for a new Lorca to emerge, which translates, for example, into the achievement of vital infrastructures for which we are fighting for years, typical of a large provincial capital.

These works are designed to serve for many decades.

Today, in particular, we fulfilled the commitment that we had with the neighbors of Aguaderas, bidding the works to endow the highway that communicates this hamlet with the urban center and the rest of the municipality with a bridge that will solve the problems that are generated in episodes of heavy rains.

It is a project that also directly benefits the residents of Pulgara, Ramonete, Morata and Campo López.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of the Presidency and Development, Yolanda Muñoz, explained during her visit to the road that the Biznaga Rambla is an important tributary of the Guadalentín River, which gathers the waters coming from the nearby ramblas as the Torrecilla, Béjar and part of the one of Nogalte, and "can accumulate a very important flow, as it happened in the flood of San Wenceslao".

Yolanda Muñoz detailed that the bridge will be 110 meters long and 10 meters wide, with a two-lane roadway, 3.2 meters and shoulders of 1.30 meters, and will be financed in two annuities.

In addition, the regional government is going to carry out another work to expand the drainage system for the RM-11 (Lorca-Águilas) and RM-621 (Lorca-Purias) roads, which cross the Rambla de Biznaga, 2,000,286 euros.

"With this second action is intended to increase the drainage capacity of the promenade and avoid the effects and damages that may be caused by possible floods," said the regional responsible.

Conditioning of the access road to the Castle

The general secretariat also announced that in November work will begin on the refurbishment of the access road and ring road to the castle of Lorca and construction of a new access road to the south, which will invest 1.12 million euros.

The execution period is expected to be, if no relevant contingencies arise, 10 months.

The Mayor explained that the importance of this action is especially relevant and of maximum utility, since, among other improvements, the alternative access to the castle through Murviedro and to the San José neighborhood is widened and widened.

We speak of having a secure communication and in conditions to the enclosure of the maximum monumental exponent of our historical heritage, as is the castle of Lorca.

Finally we will have an alternative access to the "banner" of our history, while works are carried out to definitively consolidate the rocky massif on which it is based, improve the currently paved road and improve the safety of the slope of the Massif towards the road of La Parroquia.

Yolanda Muñoz stressed that the new road "will improve the conditions of traffic, accessibility and security to this area so important for the municipality where there are cultural and tourist infrastructures of Lorca", such as the Castle and the National Parador of the city, which are highly frequented by visitors.

The new road will expand the platform to adapt to the traffic that currently supports the road, which presents deteriorations and deformations that hinder the passage of vehicles.

The work of conditioning the access road and ring road to the Castle of Lorca will ensure the slopes of the road, through the installation of a mesh consisting of a network of interlaced cables.

At present the slopes are formed by disintegrated and unstable rocky massifs that sometimes cause landslides on the road and interrupt the access to the Castle.

Likewise, it is planned to stabilize a landslide in the northern area by implementing a concrete slab containment at the foot of the slide, 30 meters in length, and the conditioning of the current road access to the Castle with new asphalting in a stretch of 1.61 kilometers.

Signaling and drainage of the road will also be improved, in order to avoid the accumulation of water on the platform of the road.

The action includes the construction of a new road connecting the Castle with the south of the city, with a length of 1,375 meters and a width of 8 meters, which will include vertical and horizontal signaling, protection barrier bionda and anti-glare screens in the section parallel to the A-7.
