The PSOE asks that Rafael Méndez have a Magnetic Resonance service to avoid long and expensive trips to patients (02/11/2017)

The Deputy Speaker of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Marisol Sánchez Jódar has once again demanded that the Rafael Méndez Hospital count "once and for all" with a Magnetic Resonance service to avoid the "long and expensive" trips that, on a daily basis, Lorca patients perform to other municipalities in the Region of Murcia.

In the same way, they demand the improvement of the TAC service, also known as a scanner, as it ensures that the current one is "obsolete" and offers a "negligible" quality in terms of the resolution of the images.

Sánchez Jódar ensures that the Popular Party, with its cuts, has dismantled the Rafael Méndez Hospital for what it demands "priority treatment and positive discrimination" so that the Lorca hospital has the human and technical resources necessary to offer health care "with guarantees "

The absence of a Magnetic Resonance service means that, for example, any case of traumatic brain injury that reaches Rafael Méndez can not be diagnosed with a test that goes beyond a simple radiograph.

He affirms that Rafael Méndez has become a "dormitory" hospital, where patients spend the night because during the day they are forced to "tour" the Region "from hospital to hospital" due to the numerous referrals.

The data from the CARM transparency portal reveal that area III is the second with the highest rate of referrals for diagnostic tests, with 29,025 cases in 2016.

Marisol Sanchez says that this situation of "precariousness" in terms of human and technical resources is "unbearable" and regrets that the current Mayor of Lorca and his party are limited to "continue with folded arms" and "swallow" the continuous cuts that have left to Rafael Méndez "to the tail of the hospitals of the Region".

Given this lack of demand, Sánchez Jódar ensures that the PSOE has assumed the responsibility of ensuring the defense of the rights of users of health in Lorca and to demand an end to the "asymmetry and imbalance" in the distribution of health resources.

The mayor has informed that her party will ask at the Assembly for the health equipment for the Rafael Méndez hospital included in the signing of the collaboration protocol between the Murcian Health Service and the Amancio Ortega Foundation.

Sánchez Jódar recalls that this agreement came at the beginning of summer and "a few months before the end of the year, nothing has been known."

From the PSOE demand that Rafael Méndez be given "priority" when hiring the new material promised, as well as the health personnel needed to put it into operation.

The agreement included the hiring of a mammograph and a TAC for Rafael Méndez, as well as a Magnetic Resonance service "whose location does not make it clear".

The socialists demand that it be installed in the Rafael Mendez as it is "inconceivable" that a general hospital like Lorca does not have this service.

Sánchez Jódar says that even in this agreement, the PP shows that it treats Lorca "as provincials" by allocating technological means "of lower quality" than those he plans to install in hospitals in the capital.

The collaboration agreement with the foundation of Amancio Ortega provides for the purchase of a scanner of "latest technology of 128 cuts" for the Arrixaca and for the Morales Messeguer, while in the Rafael Méndez they will install a 64-slice scanner, with half less quality".
