The Lorca socialists present at the demonstration to demand measures against drought and in defense of Europe's orchard (13/12/2017)

Mateos assures that the presence today of Gil Jódar and López Miras in the demonstration will continue to be "useless" if, as always, "they remain only in the banner" and are unable to demand the Government of Rajoy and his party to reflect in the budgets general the demands of the irrigators, vital for the survival of our land of which thousands of families live

The Secretary General of the PSOE in Lorca, Diego José Mateos has led the representation of leaders and activists of the socialist group of Lorca present today in the demonstrations called by the irrigators to demand measures against the "brutal drought" and in defense of the "huerta" of Europe".

Mateos assures that his party remains "united" to the voices of the thousands of irrigators, farmers and cattlemen of Lorca who, like today, have once again demanded immediate solutions in the face of this "brutal drought".

The socialist spokesman says that his party has always been with the irrigators and their needs, as demonstrated in his years of government with the "largest investment ever made by a government" through the construction of desalination plants, he says, "have been turned into the only solution with which today the irrigators count ".

They also demonstrated this with the impulse of the major drought plans, with the modernization of irrigation, and with the protection and maintenance of the Tajo Segura transfer, the same one that, he assures, the Popular Party has endeavored to eliminate.

Mateos warns that the survival of the primary sector of Lorca and the Region of Murcia "is at stake", and with it the safety of thousands of families who make this their livelihood and the sustenance of a large part of the economy of Lorca and its region.

Diego José Mateos is convinced that the problem of water is solved "yes or yes" with the agreement, consensus, and the will of all political parties.

He warns that it is the party that governs, the Popular Party, which has the obligation to reflect "what is being seen here today" in the next general budgets of the State.

Otherwise, he assures, "they will continue doing what they have shown for more than 20 years in this region, stay only in the banner and then abandon the irrigators".

In this regard, ensures that the presence today in the demonstration of the Mayor of Lorca, Gil Jódar, and President, Lopez Miras "is useless" if "as always, only stay on the banner and then are unable to demand Rajoy, among others, the elimination of the "tasazo" to the Irrigators of the Tajo-Segura or the opening of the drought wells in the Region.
