The Community will invest more than 67 million in rehabilitation and infrastructure in Lorca (14/12/2017)

Underlines the abolition of Inheritance and Donations Tax from January 1, which will benefit 14,000 people and will save 53 million annual citizens

The Minister of Finance and Public Administration, Andrés Carrillo, presented today the mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and the Chamber of Commerce of the town the draft Law of General Budgets of the Community for 2018, "year that will be the culmination of the key infrastructures for our Region "and pointed to the important investment that is going to be produced in this area in the locality.

In particular, stressed that Lorca will have in 2018 with an investment of 67.6 million euros, of which 30 million will go to the recovery of the urban environment of homes affected by the earthquake through projects revitalization of neighborhoods, 31 million for roads, 5.9 million for rehabilitation activities of the cultural heritage and more than 250,000 euros for the rehabilitation of the Ros Giner and Ibáñez Martín institutes.

With this investment, the reconstruction of the neighborhoods of the city affected by the earthquake will culminate, "large scale projects and technical difficulty that, in addition, have been incorporated over time, thanks to the economies generated in the bids for other actions", noted the counselor.

6.9 million are also included for the last phase of the Santa Quiteria fairgrounds.

Regarding the actions on roads, in 2018 it is expected that key works will be finalized for the normalization and revitalization of Lorca's social and economic life, such as those of the south central ring (10.4 million), the evacuation routes of the high neighborhoods (3.3 million) or access to the castle (1.3 million), among others.

Next year will also conclude the regional contribution to the Master Plan for the recovery of cultural heritage, another of the objectives of the regional government, with an endowment of 5.9 million euros.

In addition, Lorca will also receive funds from the recovered Barrios, Pedanías and Diputaciones Plan, a local investment program for municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants that is endowed with 2 million euros by 2018.

Economic growth and less taxes

Carrillo said that the budgets for 2018, amounting to 4,544 million euros, 6 percent more than last year with an increase of 250 million, "have been designed to create jobs, boost business innovation and consolidate the pillars of a quality growth model that allows us to compete in a global economy. "

In this regard, the Minister said that next year there will be several milestones in the region: exceed 30,000 million euros of GDP, reach 600,000 jobs and down to 16.9 percent unemployment.

In this way, he said that the budgets will allow "solid and stable" growth to continue, which will be at 2.7 percent, above the 2.5 percent expected for the national average.

The head of the Treasury highlighted the reduction of the Inheritance and Donations Tax within the chapter on tax rebates, which will be reduced to 99 percent as of January 1, 2018. It is estimated that 14,000 people will benefit from this reduction and the expected savings for the citizens of the Region it is 53 million per year.

This measure will mean, among other things, that "the Region of Murcia is the community of Spain where the transmission of the family business is most facilitated," he said.
