Marisol Sánchez asks the Mayor and the government team to work so that Lorca can benefit from the aid that the European Community is allocating to facilitate the arrival of the internet in rural areas and with which to promote the installation of Wi-Fi hotspots "free of charge" "in public places and municipal facilities in districts
The deputy spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Marisol Sánchez Jódar has asked Lorca to accept the aid that the European Union is allocating to facilitate the arrival of the internet in rural areas, also guaranteeing the installation of "free" wifi points in the public spaces of districts.
It is also a demand that also arise from the Federation Espartaria.
Sánchez Jódar ensures that this call is an "extraordinary" opportunity for residents of districts, especially the most remote, can see their communications improved, and that "no matter where they live or how much they earn" to have access to a "basic" benefit "in the 21st century, as is access to the internet.
The mayor has reported that these grants are "essential" to alleviate "as much as possible" the high costs generated by this type of communication, since carrying fiber optic directly to the towns "requires almost unattainable investments."
Sanchez Jódar has asked that the mayor and his team are involved in this matter and do not miss the opportunity "if you really care about the improvement of the communications of our neighbors of districts."
Ensures that these aids become a "fundamental" tool to "combat rural depopulation and facilitate the design of economic alternatives that fix population" in rural areas of the municipality.
The socialist responsible informs that this aid can reach up to 400 euros and with them will try to combat a situation of isolation that suffers much of our broad municipal area.
Marisol Sánchez pointed out that this aid plan aims to provide every town and every city in Europe with free wireless internet access around the main centers of public life by 2020. In this way, it would be "viable" to comply with one of the main bets for socialist Lorca, as is to promote the arrival of the Internet to those areas where it has not yet been possible, and install "open" WiFi points in social premises and youth centers in the districts of the municipality.
The mayor says that there are many neighbors, especially the youngest, who are demanding the installation of these WiFi points in their districts.
A tool that, in addition, would serve to improve the portfolio of public services offered by municipal care offices in districts, as well as in doctors' offices, where tools as basic as access to medical records or the application of the electronic prescription becomes in districts in almost an "invention of the year 2050".
