The PSOE asks the CHS for the cleaning and conservation of the ramblas of the urban environment of Lorca and a Citizen Awareness Program (28/12/2017)

The socialists consider it essential to keep clean and cleared the high sections of the channels of the ramblas that cross the urban space of Lorca to avoid flooding in the city by the plugging of bridges and vaulted sections at the time of rain of high intensity.

They also demand that a program of information and citizen awareness be carried out on how to act in case of flood.

The Municipal Socialist Group, through councilor David Romera, has asked the PP government team to demand the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura to carry out maintenance, cleaning and clearing work on the high sections of the ravines that run through the casco urban area of Lorca and its vicinity to avoid flooding in the city when heavy rainfall occurs.

Romera explained that "some of these channels are not in the proper conditions of conservation and maintenance since there appear bushes of great size and pines torn from previous floods that hinder the passage of water, including waste and garbage, elements that are dragged by the runoff waters that can cause the channels to overflow due to the plugging of bridges or vaulted sections ".

In this sense, the socialist councilor has said that there are certain channels that have to be cleaned by the aforementioned state entity to prevent flooding in the urban area of Lorca as is the case of the Rambla de las Señoritas that crosses the middle section of the neighborhood of La Viña, the Rambla de las Chatas that runs next to San José and the Rambla del Pino that does the same in the neighborhood of San Antonio, which have their reception basins in the Sierra de la Peñarrubia and empty into the ravine of Tiata

In the northern area, the main concern is the lack of drainage capacity of the bridge that spans the Rambla Salada on the Carretera del Pantano, since every time heavy rains occur, the waters jump over the bridge and this communication channel is unused.

It also considers essential the socialist mayor to carry out the extension of the walls of the Guadalentín River channel as it passes through Lorca from La Peñica to the viaducts of the A-7, action that has been projected for years and the expansion of capacity of the Rambla del Cambrón at its junction with the La Parroquia road

In the same way, the PSOE continues to demand, as it has already done on different occasions, the CHS and the City Council of Lorcaque also keep the stream of the river Guadalentín and the main watercourses that cross the municipality clean and clear of vegetation, especially in densely populated areas (of the Seventeen Arches, of the Rose, of Caravaca, Torrecilla, Béjar, Nogalte, Vilerda, Viznaga, Ramonete ...) so that in case of torrential rains, the waters run unimpeded so as not to increase their destructive power.

Finally, Romera considers it essential in this sense to carry out a Population Awareness Program against the Flood Hazard so that the residents of Lorca "know how to act during and after a torrential rainy season with the generation of possible floods and know the causes and procedures that trigger them, especially among the population of school age. "

From the PSOE notes Romera-, "we are convinced that a sensitized population reacts better to the sudden appearance of adverse phenomena such as floods", which due to geographical and climatological issues, occur periodically in our region.
