The urban renewal works of the Alameda de Cervantes de Lorca area advance (15/01/2018)

The general director of Territorial Planning, Architecture and Housing, Laura Sandoval, and the mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, supervised today the progress of the urban renewal works that are being carried out in the Alameda de Cervantes area, which is already executed at 30 percent and the forecast is that they will be completed before the month of July of this year.

This action carried out by the regional Executive will contribute to a greater fluidity of traffic on this central road and also to an improvement in the mobility of pedestrians.

Laura Sandoval recalled that "the performance in the Alameda de Cervantes comprises more than 18,000 square meters of pedestrian surface and another 26,000 traffic, which highlights the construction of two roundabouts along the avenue that will streamline traffic in this downtown via".

The works on this avenue, which links the city center with the accesses to the Ronda Sur and the regional highway RM-621 (Lorca-Purias), include the improvement of accessibility throughout the scope of action and the construction of a bike lane thanks to the implementation of the measures of the Mobility Plan of Lorca.

It will also carry out the complete renovation of the road, enhancing road safety and universal accessibility throughout the avenue with the regularization of the level of the road and the existing unevenness in various roads .. In this regard, the opening of a pedestrian crossing on the railway, in the urbanization of San Rafael.

The works include proposals of great innovation and uniqueness such as the planned performance in the Plaza Apolonia Roser, or the adequacy of the vicinity of the railways and the Ros Giner Secondary Education Institute, through the implementation of a park 'street workout' linked to the Institute.

All the basic infrastructures will also be renewed, the paving of streets, urban furniture will be improved and new playgrounds and spaces destined for adults will be enabled to promote healthy lifestyles among citizens. In the environmental field, the creation of a deer network stands out regulated by sensors.
