The PSOE warns that the lower step provided by the PP in the section I of the Round "will make it impossible" the burying of roads as it passes through Lorca (02/02/2018)

The socialists consider a "historical error" for Lorca that the current Mayor and the councilor of Works have agreed in Madrid with ADIF that the intersection of section I of the Central Round, is solved by a step less than five meters deep that will make it impossible the integral burial of the railway as it passes through the city.

In this way, the Mayor and his councilors of the PP renounce the burial of the 4.3 kilometers needed to avoid mortgaging the future urban and economic city and accepts de facto the 1.7 kilometers that ADIF wants to impose.

The councilor of the PSOE, David Romera has warned that the PP Government team renounces the integral burial of the railroad tracks as it passes through Lorca with the modification that the City Council has presented to ADIF in section I of the Central Round, that will mortgage forever the urban and economic future of the city.

In addition, it must be assumed that in ADIF's plans, only 1.7 km of roads are to be buried to save a little more than the Alamedas.

Romera explained that the decision of the PP to replace the planned overpass of the Central Round on the train tracks by a lower step that will run five meters deep, modification that was approved by the Municipal Government Board on June 23 , makes it "impossible" that the burying of the roads begins in the neighborhood of Apolonia as the economic and social agents of Lorca desire.

Similarly, "ADIF technicians plan the start at this point of the descent ramp of the tracks to reach the mouth of the future tunnel that will then be located before reaching the river Guadalentín, ramp that will go to the open sky and shielded, "will constitute a barrier that will" forever mortgage the urban and economic future of San Cristobal, San Diego, Los Angeles and Apolonia, isolating them from the rest of the city. "

In addition, on September 29, 2017, the City of Lorca requested ADIF a feasibility report on this modification, which is still pending official response, "which raises many questions about this and that endangers the integral burial."

"It is inconceivable that we are going, at this time, to make a great infrastructure such as the Central Round and that within a few years it becomes a barrier, an insurmountable obstacle that prevents the integral burial of the train tracks".

Lorca needs that the burial be integral in the 4.3 kilometers of roads that exist between the Apolonia neighborhood and the connection with the Águilas highway (RM-11), which is the area that the current General Plan of Urban Planning plans as future urbanizable areas and expansion of the city.

Consequently, the decision adopted by the Popular Party "is nonsense that is not up to the circumstances," which shows "the lack of vision and future of a short-term government team unable to live up to the that this city needs for its urban and economic future, for the future of Lorca in short. "

In view of this situation, the Municipal Socialist Group maintains its firm position, as well as the social and business fabric of the city, that "the integral burial of the railway as it passes through Lorca is irrevocable in the 4.3 linear kilometers that they are located between the Apolonia neighborhood and the Águilas highway, so as not to "mortgage" the future of the Lorca people forever, and not to submit as the PP seems to be doing with the 1.7 kilometers that ADIF intends to impose on us. "

In addition, he raises "why is it planned to burying in the city of Murcia 4 kilometers of roads when the urban space they traverse is 2.5, and in Lorca we have to settle for 1.7 kilometers when the urban area occupies 4? ,3?".

For this reason, David Romera invites both the Mayor of Lorca and the Councilor of Works to "reflect on this decision, to reconsider and think about the future of Lorca" and urgently convene the Bureau of Burial where account is given to the Lorca society of the decisions that have been adopted in this sense.
