The City Council implements the machinery of Limusa with new cleaning mechanisms specially designed for the integral treatment of commercial and pedestrian zones (02/02/2018)

The Municipal Executive has completed the renewal of the vehicle fleet of Limusa, so that now the Lorca have 10 garbage collection teams, 5 trucks for recycling, 5 vans for street cleaning, 2 high pressure cleaners, 6 sweepers, 6 scrubbing and wash, 1 beach cleaner and a mobile ecopark.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, along with the Delegate Councilor of Limusa, Juan Francisco Martinez, has reported that the City Council has acquired and put into operation immediately two new specific resources of sweeping and scouring intended in particular to comprehensive cleaning in commercial areas.

Fulgencio Gil has indicated that Limusa has put into service two new elements of road cleaning intended both for scrubbing the new sidewalks in Juan Carlos I and Alameda de Cervantes as well as the maintenance of pedestrian streets, roundabouts and squares, such as Corredera and adjacent or Plaza de Spain.

These are materials that require a differentiated treatment to eliminate the consequences of their high pedestrian flow.

One of the essential characteristics is the ability to approach the shop windows without leaving the usual dirt belt at the doors of the commercial establishments and housing of those roads.

The First Edil explained that these new resources have been requested especially to meet the specific needs of the commercial areas of Lorca.

We are working together with the different groups and social agents to increase the role of Lorca as subregional capital and county seat.

We are aware that

The ambitious battery of investments that we are executing will bring with it the renewal and adaptation of our services.

Now that we have renewed streets, we have to make a joint effort to keep them clean, and this new investment is part of that objective.

The project we are developing among all citizens to build a new and stronger Lorca, also contemplates redouble efforts in the cleaning and treatment of the waste we generate.

That is why we are going to continue carrying out awareness campaigns in this sense, trying to eliminate incivil behaviors that we all have in our retina, and correcting other improper actions of a modern city.

In parallel we are optimizing all Limusa resources to improve the cleanliness of our streets and the waste treatment system.

These mechanisms are the ideal complement for the high pressure cleaning machines, capable now of injecting water at more than 200 kilos of pressure and 60 degrees centigrade of temperature above the ground at a distance of 3 centimeters for deep cleaning of the pavement.

The objective of this acquisition is the street cleaning of the renewed sidewalks in two of the main roads of the urban center, such as Juan Carlos I Avenue, Alameda de Cervantes and emblematic points that also present a surface of difficult cleaning treatment with conventional means such as Plaza de España, Corredera and adjacent streets, with a large amount of neighborhood traffic by citizens and visitors.

The bells measure 52 centimeters in diameter and among its characteristics is not causing splashes during the process and reabsorbing the dirt removed.

They are ideal for pickling floors and removing traces of gum stuck to the paving, a residue that is especially easy to remove.

The Mayor has reported that the municipal company has allocated in recent years two and a half million euros in machinery and vehicles intended, mainly, street cleaning and waste collection, not to mention the more than 12 million euros that have been invested in the improvement of the Waste Management Center.

In recent years, 8 trucks have been acquired for the emptying of containers.

The largest investment in this chapter was made in 2010 when four collection units were purchased for an amount of 1 million euros.

It should be noted that during the same period 9 sweepers have been purchased, so the mobile street cleaning fleet has been completely renovated.

The expense for this concept reaches 700,000 euros.

For street cleaning, it should be noted the incorporation of two teams of hydrolymer, for its novelty in Lorca, valued at 100,000 euros, an investment adjusted considering its results as rapid intervention equipment and high efficiency.

In such a way, that to date of today, the Lorca have a total of 41 vehicles at their disposal for road cleaning and waste collection: 10 garbage collection teams;

5 trucks for the emptying of the selective containers (yellow, blue and green);

5 vans for street cleaning and collection of furniture, fixtures and commercial cardboard;

2 high pressure washers;

6 sweeping vehicles and another 5 scrubbing and washing;

1 beach cleaning machine and a mobile ecopark.

The rest of the vehicles are destined to operations of inspection and monitoring of the services and incidences in the public road.
